If someone's saying or doing creepy stuff to you in game, blacklist and report. Simple as that.

It's rarely as simple as that. Oftentimes there are complications, like being in the same group of friends and not wanting to start "drama", thinking you're overblowing it and making too big a deal out of it... basically expecting the very responses we've already seen in this very thread. And if the person has some renown it's all the worse because that's power they can aim against you if you do even that much. And for a lot of people, specifically women, it's impossible to say "this is just some stupid thing said to me in a game" because this is what they have to put up with day in, day out, in real life. Having that sort of thing hit on you in your escapist power fantasy can actually make things worse, especially if the person who does it was someone you thought was safe for you.

The game itself already gives players a lot of control to protect players and the GM staff does take such actions seriously. While I have not read the article if any of the harassment in-game black list and report said player if harrassment is truly going on the GM staff are swift. I have had personal experience with this. Now if the harassment is happening out of game not much SE can do. In short FC drama should stay within the FC just my two cents.

I guess it's part of the modern culture where guys feel totally ok with opening conversations with penis pics... yes it's a game (duh thanks for pointing out the obvious) but it's not a fun game for people who don't want that kind of attention... blacklist will only stop a single character from talking to you in game, it doesn't block alts or friends... it doesn't stop people from attacking outside the game... the community doesn't stop at the log out screen...

I'm a female playing both male and female characters. Most I have gotten is someone saying they liked the way my character looked. Nothing more. But I also don't talk a lot and tend to keep to myself most of the time. Even if someone did try to be sexual with me, I'd just say no thanks and move on. If they kept going I'd just blacklist and move on. *shrugs* No need to get your BP up and stress out over someone being a troll, in my opinion.

I get what your saying, if people harassing someone in game keep black listing and reporting. Unfortunately while it may not be a popular option SE should not get involved with harassment done outside of the game, nor do I feel it is the communities problem either. SE provides players with plenty tools to combat such issues in game but what can they possibly do to players outside the game.
