Best way to recruit for new FC?

Like the title says how do you recruit in this game? ive tried wandering around using shout with a macro but ive gotten nothing. Ive tried using player search to whisper people but again no response from anyone. Is it just patience and hoping people with reply or message me? sorry if this seems like a dumb question.

I'd just shout your FC information and recruitment messages in every major hub and wait for a bite every 2 hours.

Party finder and shouts combined with a lot of patience. You may get a couple people join in a day, or no one.
Or those flaky people that will join and leave within a couple of hours.

Don't send /tells to people to join your FC, as that is very annoying. There's enough gil seller spam, players don't need fc recruitment /tells on top of that.

I recently started leveling an alt, and I have to say that the few days I spent outside my free company were pretty annoying with some of the ways people have come up with to recruit, if you can call it that. Going into an area, doing a player search, and sending random invites to anyone without an FC is by far the most obtrusive. One FC in particular invited me on three separate occasions (the same person no less) after I'd turned them down. I finally ended up sending them a tell asking them to stop spamming me. After that, I just applied to my own FC to prevent further invite spam from people just looking to pick up every warm body they could.

Basically, just don't annoy people as that can put them off joining. PF isn't a bad option. A lot of it is just going to be patience and time, though. Make friends in the game. Maybe they'll join you later on! My FC started off really small (5 members) and stayed that way for a long time. Recently we've had a few friends join because of various situations with the FC's they were already in, and they ended up leaving theirs to join us. As the FC grew larger even more people noticed and joined and brought their friends with them. :3

Just don't be a jackass, don't spam, and keep it short, and I think anything's game. You can also try /r/ffxivrecruitment on Reddit as I picked a previous FC off there once, or your server's forums. Both options stay up longer than a shout.

I've had someone on an alt send an invite and whisper me offering help if I joined, and they were doing this camping a class guild for sprouts. When I ignored them they followed me around the city spamming angry emotes and accused me of being rude when I told them to piss off. On the same server, another person whispered me and pretended they weren't trying to advertise their FC after I told them I wasn't looking, all the while subtly complimenting it and telling me how people who joined got Bacon Bread.

People are insane about recruitment, even when they wouldn't know what to do with new members, anyway.

Yeah ive put myself in Party Finder too now :P guess its gunna be a waiting game. used to other mmos where i would get tons of people join per day but all good im willing to wait thanks all for the replies

I can't really help, but I can tell you what not to do.

Do not use player search and whisper random people.

Do not randomly send random FC invites to random people.

There is a big FC on my server that does just that and I am willing to bet that most of the server hates the fc just for that sole reason. Nothing is more annoying than receiving random tells/invites. I link FCs that do this to the level of gill sellers. I would advise to avoid doing both unless you wish to annoy people >.<.

I see that many people have said this, but I think it's worth noting that, depending on the server*, this can be deemed as slightly more socially acceptable. I've received tells from people saying that they were not interested in joining an FC, but that they appreciated the fact that I spoke to them specifically via tell (no macros) versus sending out an unsolicited invite.

This isn't to say that a great number of players don't see it as rude, but in my experience, it isn't necessarily deemed as being socially unacceptable. I am sure this varies from server to server, however. Good luck!

It's extremely intrusive and it reeks of just wanting to fill the FC with whatever warm bodies happen along, honestly.

As I said, this likely varies. The few people I've sent tells to were new players that I thought needed help and, in my case, they messaged me back and thanked me for sending the message and not just outright inviting them without a word. But, to be fair, some of these were players I'd encountered before and had helped kill a mob that was chasing them while on my way to do something else, or some other random event.

I don't disagree with what others have said at all - especially when you're just looking to fill an FC with warm bodies, as you said. A short and thoughtless "need an FC?" is way more intrusive and spammy than a well thought-out message targeted for an individual player standing right in front of you, as was my case.
