    Targeted AoE Improvements

    I was thinking of ways to improve BLMs mobility and quality of life, and progging Ultimate. Right at the beginning, you're AoE'ing down those plumes until Garuda decides to vanish, but maybe some plumes are alive? So I switch targets before she vanishes to a plume, but what happens when said plume dies? So does my spell...

    This is a problem for ALL targeted AoE spells, but it's something the devs could fix. Not all enemies become 100% untargetable by spells upon death. Why not allow Flare, Foul, and other AoE casts to continue casting, even though the target died (so long as the spell was started while they were alive.) In exchange, the diminishing effect should remain. The spell would do nothing to already defeated enemy, and then deal the standard percentage less potency to each additional target.

    Really, the worst thing to BLMs is interrupting our spells. This type of change would be a step in the right direction. Hope the devs consider it Thanks.

    double that Yes pls.., this has been a Blm issue with its (long) cast times since ages!

    maybe give Blm a "trait", that will allow them to finish casts even if main target dies (but wont refresh astrals or enichian, unless something actually takes damage...or it might be considered cheap)

    or just make it something in general for all classes, so casts can still go off, even if taget dies (just there must be some sort of damage like on secondary aoe-targets, if buffs, timer etc. want to be activated..)

    Same kinda stuff happens with RDM too.

    A casted AoE should still go off even if your target dies to be honest. Just have it target the ground where the enemy was standing when it died.

    I approve of this. With the catch that the attack still has to hit something to count for anything other than a waste of mp.

    I would say the spell should still consume MP, even if it ends up hitting nothing. That would make it function in the same way as other 360 AoEs and ground-targetting AoEs. I think when you couple that with the penalty for losing a primary target in terms of potency, it wouldn't break balance.

    What I definitely don't want is for Flare and Foul to turn into ground AoEs. I personally prefer playing with a controller, which already makes BLM kinda a pain, but it makes controlling ground AoEs really painful.

    The Garuda example is bad because you can keep casting spells on a dead Spiny until it explodes, thus refreshing stacks.

    blm aoe casts are (very) slow, rdm aoes are faster + proc or are instant..

    I feel rdm, but blm with the slow aoe casts (fire 2 and flare) are really a pain, very often an add dies before getting off a single flare (unless ofc got tripple or swift cast up)
