    Elemental weaknesses

So I've noticed there are charts for the elemental weaknesses for FFXIV, but I've noticed that this does NOT affect anything in battle. I can hit a mob, that is Earth based and weak to Fire, harder with Thunder than i can with Fire. I've tested this on several mobs and there seems to be no bonus for hitting a mob with the element it is weak against. If it is working, can anyone explain why i can hit harder with lightning on a mob that strong vs lightning and weak vs fire? Is it just me or does this function not work yet? And if it isn't working, will it be fixed or actually put in during a future patch?

NOTE: I have Fire potency + gear as well.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

You're doing it wrong. If you're fighting really something weak ws fire, you'd see huge numbers.
For example, if you're a pugilist with fist of fire versus an ice elemental, each fist hit for tons of damage
    What you're fighting ?

I tested it on a lot of mobs, but to name a few Molting Mites(Earth), Nestling buzzards(Wind), Yarzon Scavengers(Ice), about 20 others, i did repetition tests with same level mobs. The only two I've really seen a difference with is the wolves in Natalan and the Kobolds, strong and weak to lightning respectively.

Elemental weaknesses seem to be working. I was hitting Ixali (Wind) today with Blizzard (weakness) and it was doing as much damage as Thundara (neutral), despite having a lower base potency. It's also a good idea to whack wolves with Stone, even as THM.

The problem I have is that so few mobs I fight on a regular basis are weak to Fire.

Can someone point me to such a chart (post 1.20) as FFXIV's system seems to be pretty messed up compared to other FF (fire isn't that good vs ice for some reason?)

NOTE: I have yet to find any charts newer than this.

    This is for the chart:
    http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?foru...186182092&h=50

This has 2 links for mob families via Zam and YG:
    http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?foru...995147288&h=50

But i really haven't found that it matters much because most of the mobs don't seem to take more or less damage based on their weakness, with Thaumaturge anyway.

I was kinda hoping a dev could comment or shed some insight to this though.

Something I've noticed is that the element an enemy is associated with doesn't necessarily determine what they are weak to. Bombs are obviously fire-based but they are weak to Fire. Amaal'ja are Fire based but weak to Ice instead of wind (probably because they are cold-blooded lizards). However, for the most part it's not a bad thing to stick to the elemental wheels. It's fairly safe because, from what I've seen, following it you will hit for neutral damage at worst.

For the enemies you've stated previously, Mites are weak to Water and resist earth. Thunder seems to work fine on them, though. Birds are weak to Ice (tested back when CNJ had Blizzard), don't remember if they resist anything outright but Ice was the strongest on them.

Yea they changed a lot of it, and most of the Wikis probably have the elements mislabeled, I really hope SE releases some insight to this soon, so i can take advantage of it as a Thaumaturge. Mostly why i was hoping a dev would comment on this topic, still kinda of hoping one does.
