My retainer had job fishing. I gave Spearfish Gig

But, I checked in assigan venture list. They don't work for gig.

Why? I wanted order for retainer and give me fishs when I can leveling culinarian or scrips

I hated gig. It's alwasy random bad lucky than rod.

It's about the same rng, I feel like? Bait = gig head, but you're not at risk of burning all your mp only to be told the fish sense something is amiss. You also don't waste attempts on maps unless you actively turn it on.

And the retainer does bring back spearfishing fish. It's just that like the regular fish, they can't bring you every last fish available, most of them you have to get on your own.

Its also worth noticing that the only stat on the gig are GP - and those arent relevant for the retainer and the calculation of the RNG.

The Fishing Ventures are limited to specific fish - and you must have caught that fish yourself before the retainer can be given the task of getting it.
The list includes fish that you get from spearfishing.
Equipping your retainer with a gig or not doesnt make a difference.

Also: I'm not sure what you're refering to when you say that spearfishing is more RNG than rodfishing - thats not the case. Spearfishing isnt more random than rodfishing - its just a matter of picking the right gig. Normally you can catch about 3 differnt fish with each (you also have a skill to ensure you dont catch a specific kind again) - same with the baits: Most of the time you can catch several fish with the same bait.

I just want a rarer gig. It's slightly depressing having your fully decked out hq, melded (or scrip) gathering set... and then that white nq lv60-something gig in your off-hand. Silly little vanity wish as it might be, still would like to see it added

The selection of fish available for FSH retainers has always been awful. BTN and MIN, every single thing on their list is something you can use or craft with, but the only function for most of a FSH retainer's options is to sell them to NPC (or level CUL desynth). Sadly, SE chose not to make any of the spearfishing fish available from FSH retainer... except for Snailfish, which were added to the FSH retainer in patch 4.3. But your retainer doesn't even need to have a gig to get them.

As it stands, the only purpose for equipping gear on your retainer is to increase their Gathering stat. No other stat matters for Retainers. And the gig, sadly, has no Gathering stat, nor any slots for melding Gathering.

I agree with this. We need more gigs, even if they only have an additional point or two of GP!

there are so few usefull fish that retainers who could bring them would flood the market, destroy the prices and make the real fishers useless. no thanks. i remember how they detroyed the market for the blue cloud coral back in early heavensward :O

what they could do is expand on the spearfish with every patch to add new usefull fish for new buffood / potions and stuff and make the old ones available for the retainer maybe. but SE has not added new fish for the 3 star buffood last time... >.>
