    [suggestion] Bring back skillchains/magic bursts

While I tried hard to use and enjoy Battle Regimes, I find their implementation rather convoluted and cumbersome. The level of steps required is too high, and in the end lag doesn't help.

I would suggest bringing back skillchains from FFXI.

Mind you, I'm not one of those that advocates turning FFXIV into FFXI-2, but when you make a sequel porting over certain staples of the previous game isn't a bad thing, is it?
I think skillchains are one of those staples.

Their usage and execution was much more intuitive and immediate than Battle Regimes, they didn't require additional cumbersome steps, and they simply were the best balance possible between fun, simplicity and complexity.

I'd rather battle regime be more so...automatic, than having to be done manually ( and by manually I mean having to activate battle regime then do the abilities). The current system as it is, is just so much of a hassle that there's no point in doing it.

Battle Regimen is prefect and is better than Skillchains/Magic Burst because it IS the upgraded version of that... except it's all automated.

A Battle Regimen leader starts the chain, then people follow up and queue their spells and abilities, once that's done.. the leader then clicks a button and the whole thing is down all at once... instead of in FFXI where you have to wait for people to do it at the right second and magic bursting you have to cast it at the right time so that you dont do it too early or too late.

With Battle Regimen it's like: Leader starts> queue up Quick Nock> queue up Skewer II > etc (as how many weaponskills you want> Thunder II > Thunder II> etc (as how many magic bursts you want) > then leader hits ok > then all of the abilities go off in one second.

if it was perfect, my friend, everyone would use it.

The fact that almost no one uses the system is a clear signal of the fact that it's not perfect, isn't it?

Oh people use it. End game users use it. I use it for all my parties.

    People just aren't informed.

It's great once you discover it.

It's... so so. I think it needs improvement.

It feels weird, rushed and slow at the same time.

There's a big rush on everyone queuing commands as fast as possible so the regimen can be initiated because of having to stop to setup the regimen is effectively stopping the flow of combat and many times players are called out for being to slow to add to the queue. It can be stressful.

I simply believe it needs tweaked or reworked some.

Yeah I agree on that. It needs a bit more tweaking. But this is essentially Skillchains/Magic Burst like on FFXI though

My friends and I agree the skillchain system in FFXI was vastly better than Battle Regimen.

The main issue with Battle Regimen is that you're locked into it once you've activated your skill. Granted that if you're good at it like me and my linkshell have it only takes a few seconds but we also use vent to help with that. you cannot use your keyboard to type to your party in this game with the 'action bar' so vent is actually more useful in this game espeically for Battle Regiments. Getting the defense down on a mob can make the difference of killing it before it rages and wipes the entire party.

Another fail on this system over the Skillchain system is that visually nothing happens it just seems lackluster compared to seeing a 3k dmg Light skillchain with magic burst.

One of the best thing of skillchains is that they could actually happen randomly. That's what brought people to discover and utilize them on the first place, raising the intutiveness and then prompting players to look more into them.

Unfortunately this is impossible with regimens.
