This problem exists for samurais trying to use Tenka Goken too.
the issue exists for every "cast" on an enemy target..
but playing all casters (and sam.. among others), its by far the most a annoying for Blm ..especially when aoe-ing ..,
not saying this as some blm vs rdm BS,.. but if the devs can't or won't to do that for ALL classes with cast moves (either to big to do.. or might unbalance too much.. or what ever reason), than it should be imo atleast done for blm (which have a slow aoe build up in the first place with precasting B3, B4, F3 and or T4 etc,.. blm also have very slow aoe casts too, like f2 or flare..)
no other class loses as much dps, if a cast doest go off as blm
best would be to fix it for all classes, but its imo the most urgent for blm (since 2.x..., even if double or tripple flares were OP in dungeons.., in raids it was annoying as hell)
just fear if all classes with some kind of cast move start calling out "we want this too", .. the devs just might go with:
"ok, since we cant fix this (now) for all of you / for all classes, we wont favor one class (blm) over the others, so no class will get this fixed atm"..
even if the devs might not use that wording (will be much more diplomatic), fear devs might just wait till 5.x for, all instead of implementing it sooner for blm

The Garuda example is bad because you can keep casting spells on a dead Spiny until it explodes, thus refreshing stacks.
To be honest I would prefer it if there was an option for casting to be automatically cancelled. Yes I know you can just move your character to cancel casting, but when you are half way through and then your intended target is no longer available (e.g. it dies or becomes untargetable), it can feel you just wasted your time on the cast. Definitely with BLM it can be awkward if you are trying to get out that last Fire IV but your target dies, you aren't looking enough to notice, and your Transpose doesn't make it on time, leaving you to build up Eno again.
Hell, it's a problem even for SAM. Tenka Gekko on fast dying mobs like the Yotsuyu fight, especially when people blow ST abilities on random enemies within the pack just 'cus...
At the very least, I wouldn't mind it if the cast could continue if you switch to a new target before the cast finishes.
There may be reasons why this isnt possible without a sizable code rewrite. As it is now, i often switch targets mid-cast so that my next spell can land somewhere other then where my current one does. The solution from above of letting the aoe spell finish while still counting the dead NPC as the primary target for diminishing returns would be fine. Some NPCs already persist for a little bit after death afterall.
I fully support this and it is a problem across multiple jobs
Also, for BLM, having the target die before you can end your flare can also result in the loss of enochian which adds up to the problème
