Crashing on login with DX9 or black screen before Square Enix logo on DX11

    Hey,

So I bought this yesterday to play on PC - Windows 10 (usually play PS4) and I'm having nothing but issues with it so far and haven't been able to play it.

First, it took all night to get the game downloaded due to restarting it 3 times before I found that using a public DNS gets past the buggy expansion patches.

Now, launching the game with DX11 gives nothing but a black screen. Tried in compatibility modes for 7 and 8 too and same result. Same if I enable reduced colour mode.

Launching the game with DX9, was giving crash errors instantly on all compatibility modes, but now I've managed to get it to get to the character select screen several times and it now crashes after clicking my character whilst loading into the game. Image of the crash error.

    - Always launch the game in Admin mode too.
    - Done port forwarding for the game already when I was having download issues the first few times.
    - Disabled AV / Windows Defender
    - Changed graphics in the configuration at main menu of the game to *standard desktop* instead of *high*
    - Tried Windowed Mode
    - Disabled other background apps
    - Unplugged unnecessary USB devices

System requirements are here and show I should be able to run on DX11 so no idea why that doesn't even get me to the same point.

I'm not bothered which DX version I use, I just want the game working if anyone can help?

Didn't realize it only lets you link 1 thing in a post and had deleted it

Hello Maester-J , Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

Its seems you have tried many of our troubleshooting, but I do have a couple more suggestions for you to try.

    - Update/reinstall Graphics card drivers

    - Perform a clean boot*

    - Make sure that any anti-virus software they have has the appropriate exceptions

    - Install game on C drive (The same drive as the Operating System)

*To perform a clean boot for Windows 8/10: Open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. For Windows 7: Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all. For Mac: Restart the Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key. The Apple logo appears on your display. Release the Shift key when you see the login window.

Hope to be of assistance. Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV! Hope to see you online.
