seriously its not all about grinding... for me as a casual player, i dont want to investigate 4+ hours to gain a level for a simple class..

and lv 50 wont be the endcap level for sure..

in FFXI i had no chance at all to reach level 60+ it was too much grind for me personally... now i have a chance to at least level SOME classes up to 50.. dont forget that in 2.0. there will be hopefully new players...

Cloudio, I wish you were on Besaid, it seems we share similar play styles and I would get along with you perfectly.

I have been playing since closed beta on a regular basis (minus a couple months off) my jobs are 50alc, 50thm, 41crp, 32con, and others around 20's I played through the crazy PL days and still decline PL when offered. If others want to PL thats their choice, it just kinda sucks when the majority of ppl want to play this way

While much has been written on its influence on contemporary living, it is important to remember that ‘what goes up must come down.’ Inevitably Slower Exp is often misunderstood by those most reliant on technology, obviously. Though I would rather be in bed I will now examine the primary causes of Slower Exp.

    Social Factors

Society begins and ends with Slower Exp. When Sir Bernard Chivilary said 'hounds will feast on society' [1] he saw clearly into the human heart. A society without Slower Exp is like a society without knowledge, in that it bravely illustrates what we are most afraid of, what we all know deep down in our hearts.

Our post-literate society, more than ever before, relies upon Slower Exp. Just as a dog will return to its own sick, society will return to Slower Exp, again and again.

    Economic Factors

In spite of the best efforts of The World Bank the market value of gold, ultimately decided by politicians, will always be heavily influenced by Slower Exp due to its consistently high profile in the portfolio of investors. What it all comes down to is money. Capitalists love Slower Exp.

    Political Factors

Much of the writings of historians display the conquests of the most powerful nations over less powerful ones. Comparing international relations since the end of the century can be like observing Slower Exp and former Wolves striker Steve Bull.

Consider this, spoken at the tender age of 14 by style icon Bartholomew Bootlegger 'People in glass houses shouldn't throw parties.' [2] I argue that his insight into Slower Exp provided the inspiration for these great words. If Slower Exp be the food of politics, play on.
The question which we must each ask ourselves is, will we allow Slower Exp to win our vote?

    Conclusion

In my opinion Slower Exp deserves all of the attention it gets. It collaborates successfully, provides financial security and it brings the best out in people.

I'll leave you with this quote from Wyclef Zeta-Jones 'I demand Slower Exp, nothing more nothing less.' [3]
BAAAHAHAHAAAAA!! I thought you didnt like to RP... say whatever you will, you just role-played

An update: I have been trying to level THM without using PL related methods. It is rather unpleasant. No one groups at lower levels! There is no lower level gear! Yoshi's earlier quote seems a bit naive. How does he expect to hook new people in if their initial experience is this dismal? And yes, it is dismal.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I'd like to point out two quick facts relating to this "problem" as outlined by OP:
    1. Getting a class to max level in a few days to a few weeks is not uncommon in MMO's nowadays.
    2. Square-Enix has stated before that they did not want to recreate FFXI with this game. Just because FFXI had a long grind to 75 prior to abyssea does not mean anyone wants this game to have that.

I just do not see the point to complaining about leveling being too easy in this game. Leveling is actually quite a slow process if you don't party (which is awesome because it encourages cooperative play, even if it's still a grind it's a bit more fun). Making leveling more difficult goes against the trend of most other MMO's on the market, which now includes FFXI (which to be honest, aside from Diablo 2 was the hardest game I've to get a character to max level prior to level sync and abyssea). While I think many people enjoyed that the difficulty in FFXI leveling resulted in players for the most part having to limit the total number of jobs they were able to level up, I think it's become apparent that that model is not the best one.

Most content in MMO's now is endgame. Typically most content in an MMO is max level content or PvP. I will admit, FFXI and FFXIV both have a great leveling system that encourages party game-play rather than a solo grind (which a lot of current MMO's have). You have to realize though, that the majority of content is for max level, and most people want to get to that content. Restricting or slowing people from getting to that content will typically only ever cause them to cancel subscriptions. While I do find it odd that so many people have all classes at max level, it does not phase me. This game isn't trying to be pre-abyssea FFXI, if anything it's a more accessible Final Fantasy MMO which is modeled more after other games.

One last note; I think that this is all more apparent here than is other MMO's (at least the ones I've played) due to the ability to switch classes. Along with FFXI, the ability to switch classes makes you more likely to level them - If I have to make a new character altogether in order to level another class up, I'm less likely to do so. If I have nothing better to do, why wouldn't I start working on another discipline? This coupled with the fact that the current MMO trend is showing that players don't want a huge long multiple month grind to get to endgame content just means that you're going to see a lot of people with all disciplines maxed.

    I'm not sure.
First, job quests are not ingame yet and they would not be side quests.
Maybe he mean class quests, but that would be CQ and not JSQ and they are 20-36 and not 30-36.
Job quests would be 30-50 so he mean them not, too
    Hmm

This is great for soloers. I can get 40-50K / hr doing company leves. ~10-12k per 15 min leve with GA. And I get seals and gil.

At level 30-40 this is almost an entire level each hour

    Whoohoo!

This is especially nice because I only play 1-2 hours a day - if that. So I can login and feel like I'm accomplishing something with having to painfully form an xp party.

    Another amazing Lodestone forum suggestion.

SE listen to Cladio - we need to adjust this adjusted system for the 4th time. Make leveling a dead crawl and struggle so only the "good" players can hit 50. Leveling is the main part of the game and should take your entire life to work up to.

Forget that cross-class skills are needed to play as certain roles, we need to make this as hard as possible so there is no chance these lamer "casuals" can be near us.

Each mob should give 1 exp, and if you fight anything your level it should nearly kill you. Get on the ball here SE leveling IS THE WHOLE GAME!!!!!!!!!!
lol thank you for that Rem

    This thread has no merit.

It takes a long time to level jobs. As it is now it is not too fast to level up from 0-50.

Others have correctly stated that 50 is not the final level cap.

This is not the first "too much XP" thread.

    Find another topic.

Look the leveling from 40-50 is too fast i agree in that, is a grind fest out of proportion getting 8 people anywhere, especially in strongholds, i would like them to make them harder to kill and longer than taking out exp, i dont enjoy just watching how the mob hits the floor before i can strike it with my pugilist, taking out exp would mean more time doing the same thing that i hate, so making the mobs harder and with bigger hp pools would make the battle last longer and making you use more abbilities and ws to kill it, so in less words more enjoyable with the same benefits of killing in chains, but now you wont be able to pull 15 wolves at the same time and end up alive at the end.
