Main Scenario: Futures Perfect (spoiler)

For the Futures Perfect quest you are given a choice to either aid the resistance or leave. I believe this is the first time it is actually telling me if I leave, there is no turning back. In other words, if I leave, there is no way I can accept this mission again.

You have heard the words of the captain and his men and women. You have also heard my concerns. However, the Path you walk is your own, and you must make your own decision on the direction you take. Just remember, there are some gates through which one might pass that admit no return.

According to Lady Minfilia, however, other Resistance parties have attempted similar plans in the past, and all have met with failure. You have a choice to make-whether to flee or to fight.

Has anyone tried to turn down this mission? If so, then what benefits are there to turning it down? Would I be saving the individual lives of this resistance force by turning them down and making sure they aren't running into a suicide mission?

Or does accepting it sign their death warrant, but at the great good of freeing Ala Mhigan?

Or is it really just a facade, and I have really no choice but to say yes?

I don't have an answer for you as to whether you can decline helping them since I didn't try saying no. However, I'm pretty sure you need to choose to aid them in order to move the story forward.

As far as the story itself is concerned, the characters are going to go on the mission no matter what. You make the "choice" to tag along, but that's all. The characters in the story are committed to their course of action whether you join them or not.

Tis' as Rane said, your missions won't advance until you end up where they end up.

I believe I left as their motives did not match with mine and while I don't recall the specifics, I have screen captures of the events that follow as if I went with them.
