I don't think i've done a single Grand Company leve other than Caravan Security, and I'm an Order of the Twin Adder Sergeant with seals to spare. Nuff Said. No interest.

im gonna try the sergeant one, once i get enough seals to upgrade my rank in limsa, but the point is the same just 3 leves for GC is not enough, we need more dynamic and better leves
I completely agree with this. The timer based leve's (GC or not) are just a horrible time sink. They do make a good time to get a snack / use the bathroom / catch up on some knitting / etc. Standing around doing nothin isn't what most people consider fun; although some people like to watch paint dry. That's it really. They're boring and tedious. I do them often and every time I do my only thought is to try to do 10 but I only ever make it part of the way before logging out and not wanting to log back in.
Standing around and running the clock is not enjoyable for me. I know how to "cheat" the system by spam abandoning them until the shorter ones come up but that does not fix the larger issue.
I don't speak for anyone else I speak only for myself but I do not understand how standing around and waiting for 10+ minutes for a timer to end can be construed as enjoyable.
In order that this not be a complaint without any suggestion of a solution (because I'm a game designer that should know the answers to the problems I perceive apparently) I suggest removing/restructuring all the GC leves that involve being forced to wait out a timer and replace them with leves where the objective is not on a fixed timer and involves doing something and not simply waiting out the clock.
Thanks for reading.
Typical Defend Leve: 2 mobs spawn, you kill them and wait 1.5-2 minutes, repeat for 6-15 minutes.
A side note, the Caravan Security needs to be picked up in pace as well. Timer begins with 15 minutes remaining and you don't see the first mobs spawn until 13:30~ish time remaining. Also their are 5 maybe 6 places where mobs will spawn iirc. There is no action, people run to where the mobs first spawn, kill them and wait for choco's to slowly walk up to them.
Solution? I don't know, the game needs more action and keeping people involved. Most of the time when I'm doing things in this game I'm alt-tabbed reading forum posts and lol'ing or watching TV.
Possible solution: Add to the game - System Requirement: 2nd monitor and/or Netflix.
i do them for xp that way im not paying attention to how many seals i get. I know they don't want you to op them which is why they're are solo. i wish they'd allow for duo though to make them less boring. That's it really. They're boring and tedious. Needs to be repeated. Defense leves are boring as hell. Does SE even play-test these things to see if it's enjoyable?
I hate the Ul'dahn Flame scout...
This douche has a sword and shield but just stands there in passive mode shaking... what a nub
30,000/30,000 Serpent Seals and waiting
I'm using GC leves to level my battle classes, it's good XP indeed. I usually pick all normal leves from the area, then keep doing GC leves. If they give the 'defense' leve, I do a regular levequest to change it.Although I agree that the tedium of the clock is annoying at best, has anyone bothered to use the GC leves to XP? I decided to grind leves to rank up while on my lv 40 Lancer. I was shocked at the XP I was raking in from killing the mobs. It was much more than a typical leve mob, maybe double or more. This, I believe, is a hidden bonus to the GC leves which makes going the entire 15 minutes worthwhile, especially on the 'kill as many as you can' leves. Granted, the 'defense' leves needs a few more mobs, but the point stands. Can't wait to see that 3rd leve now that I am Sergeant.
