    DRG vs RDM

    Hello everyone!

I’ve just bought Stormblood and unlocked RDM, but i can’t decide what to main between RDM and DRG. I have a 50 DRG right now and both classes are ok to me. I don’t care about learning curve or difficulty of the job, it can be managable I guess. What I want to ask is:

Which job is more fun, has better looking(both armorwise and skillwise), solo old content better and good for casual play?

Rdm has a heal as part of their kit so it makes it easier for them to solo old content unsynced. For fun and appearance wise well, you'll have to be the judge for yourself.

On a side note I really should figure out how to put spoiler tags There we go

OP, I had a post written up for this but my net went down and ate my post. So I'll just be brief: I enjoy RDM more than I do DRG. I like the aesthetic better, and I like the gameplay loop better. I encourage you to find videos of gameplay for both at Lv70 to see which you like more, and I also encourage you to level both up and experiment with them yourself at the level cap.

Red Mage is simpler to play, but there's few things more satisfying than dive bombing.

For soloing old content and casual play, I'd definitely go for RDM

I love Pro and Con lists, so here you go:

    RDM:
    Pros:
Great toolkit for casual play (raise and heal)
    interesting playstyle
very easy to do well with (I consider it to be the easiest DPS, this could be a con for you)
    great aesthetic
    Cons:
Performance in hardcore content is limited due to low DPS output compared to SMN and BLM
very easy class to master (could be a pro)

    DRG:
    Pros:
    Great aesthetic
    Very engaging playstyle
    Provides very good party utility
Great for hardcore content (currently one of the most sought after DPS in end game raiding content)
    Cons:
More difficult to master than RDM (though certainly not the hardest DPS in the game)
Has a TON of buttons to hit, making it somewhat difficult for controller users
Frequent animation locks (due to jumps) results in many deaths while learning content.

TL;DR Red Mage is fun to play, and great for casual players. DRG is more difficult and is better suited for more hardcore players.

Nothing is stopping to you level them both to max level and see which one you like better. Both are viable for all content in the game.

Rdm skills look imo really cool (some of the coolest animations and explosions, ..imo cooler explosions than the other casters, besides a cool looking acrobatics)

Drg on the otherhand has really cool glamour (gear sets), are possibly the best looking in the game (besides think Drk and Nin)
    ...

for solo older content and casual play, Rdm is probably best class of all, really! (Rdm first or only class to solo deep dungeon.., only Smn and think War come close)

but when joining other groups, Drg is probably the most desired dps class (besides Nin and Brd/Mch), youll always get a spot in a party finder as Drg,.. and especially desired if a Brd or Mch is in the group

(as Rdm, might be harder to get in parties compared to Drg, since sometimes parties only want one caster, unlike many want two melee.. but its generally not hard to get in as Rdm.., unlike Blm or Sam or sometimes Drk, they have hard times)
