I don\\'t know what it is I\\'m doing exactly that causes me to drop my target and/or switch em mid battle.

Example 1: I will toggle my hotbar to toss a Wildfire on target A, toggle it back to burst but notice that I\\'m now instead attacking target C.

Example 2: I will select the tank as my target, toggle hotbar to use Lustrate but end up Lustrating myself because I\\'ve apparently untargetted the tank in the process.

I\\'ve only customized my UI since 2.0, not the controls. What could I be doing in the midst toggling hotbars that may cause me to drop my target?

1. if you hit R1 while hitting R2, it does enemy tab targeting. Sounds like you are doing that by accident when you're doing hotbar switching.

2. Controller has this idea of soft targeting and hard targeting.

Hard targeting is what most people think of. It's your targeting.
Soft targeting is a temporary target.

So let's say you have yourself targeted (hard targeting).
No you are using your d-pad to get to the tank (soft targeting)
Once you use a skill it'll go back to you.

Make sure you hit X to turn your soft target into a hard target.

It's also possible you're hitting your Circle button, which is a cancel of targeting if you have no hotbar activated.
