Well, perhaps good news about newsummonsegis; a different interviewer asked about it:
-Though I have no idea what the "next thing" entails. Be incredibly cautiously optimistic?Twinfinite: OK I’m a Summoner, so I’m going to ask two quick selfish Summoner questions. The first is, of course, the mandatory question I have to ask: Is there any update egi-glamours for Shiva, Ifrit [etc.] [Yoshida laughs] will be added anytime soon? Or is it being considered, at least?
Yoshida: The development team does acknowledge that is about time to do our next thing, but we’re not going to reveal what that next thing is going to be just yet.
Like a politican he answered the Egi question without actually answering it, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
[chants] Warring Triad Egis Warring Triad Egis.
I mean, a part of me will be miffed if they skip Ramuh, Shiva and Levi (wtb Mog Egi), but then again - Sephirot-Egi.
Well he says if they add a new housing area someday, but they currently have no plans to add a new area.
Then the author says that based on knowing that they have 2 years planned, then it means it wouldn't happen anytime soon, not even for the expansion (though this part is the author extrapolating and not something specifically said by Yoshi-P, but I would also figure this interpretation to be correct it probably won't happen in the next 2 years).
So no it's not a "no". It's a "if we ever add another area someday, it'll be Ishgard" - just no timeframe on when that "someday" might ever be.
At one point, he did mention to me that they typically plan ahead in a two year plan but I didn't include it because I wanted to elaborate on it with him but we ran out of time.
What would even be the point of that though? There's no view in apartments, it's just a square room with area themed pillars.
The same point that any apartment building has? Give people more housing options, with a slightly different flavor. Also, just because something doesn't exist now doesn't mean they can't add it - like this hypothetical apartment building in the first place. If they'll already add Ishgard apartments, that's already a thing they need to develop. QoL - give us a view from the windows.
Housing really should be more of a priority, especially with how many new features are being developed specifically for it such as gardening, new housing items and guest books. At the very least, expanding the size of apartments would help alleviate things. Many MMO's offer housing for everybody that desires one. Many players care nothing for the 'neighbourhood feel' that FFXIV is trying to go for. When I had a house, I found my view was ruined by chocobo wall using neighbours. So a private instance would have been much more welcome for me.
I wonder if the reluctance to create Ishgard housing is because the zone it's a ghost town outside of leveling? I'm on a crowded server with a ton of RPers and even then I rarely see players in Ishgard.
Rarely see players outside ul'dah/limsa. Grid is almost a ghost town, like ishgard. Kugane is ok and Rhalgr's reach is a ghost town at select hours of the day. Just how the game is, not very active in general. I feel people are in general getting tried of the same thing reskinned such as myself and some close friends of mine. I feel having no ishgard housing because of a "war" seems like a cheap excuse not to add it.
shiro can use some changes like house facing and not feel cramped but i rather see Ishgard Housing. On that note can something be done with large housing cost? Why would I have to pay so much gil just because they did not have Ishgard Housing when one gets a large?According to Yoshida, instead of opening new housing areas, the dev team has been focusing on making existing housing areas like Shirogane better.
