I think it's fine this way.

While I haven't done Ultimate (yet?), I still enjoy the community buzz of following those that do, don't get me wrong. And it's not like I particularly care about only getting 1 dungeon because of that either, because while dungeons are nice the first 3 or so times they quickly shed their guise into the same trash smash with maybe 1 cool new boss mechanic. That said, I agree that the amount of people clearing it means making it a staple for every single odd patch is a bit much. Two per expansion is plenty enough. The .5 patches at the tail end of the expansions especially suffer the longest dry patches while the next expansion is finalised, so I think it's best that the time and resources go into bolstering casual content at that point in the patch cycle.

That is what really irks me, they announced no 4.5 ultimate but said nothing about what will come in it's place or if something will come in the first place and we already know nothing of what will come after 4.3, they should've been more careful on that announcement imho

Fair enough they wish to cut content, but why not tell us what will replace said content in the upcoming patches. I hope they are not planing on using this so called "community" response as a reason to simply provide less content.

The issue I take with this is that the majority of this game is already content that everyone can partake in and clear/enjoy. I think it’s unfair to deny those that want more the more they want when the majority of this game’s playerbase are catered to already. Both Extremes and Savage has gotten less difficult with each passing release because the developers wanted more players to try it—but more players wouldn’t until they eased up on the difficulty. Now Savage feels pretty vanilla for the people that want more. Why should they be denied more when Ultimate isn’t impacting the content the majority gets to enjoy anyways? If you’re wanting intermediate-hard, the Extreme trials and Savage is already providing that (especially the first two to three floors of Savage).

If we aren’t going to get an Ultimate in 4.5, then I expect them to make a fifth and/or sixth tier for the final installment of Omega, and make it challenging—I’d prefer something close to Brute Justice level but I doubt that will happen. But, otherwise, we end up with Creator where there is months and months of nothing to do.

Instead of targeting the minority few that can play 20 hours a day, they should target people with normal playing hours.
Speaking as someone who was progging UCoB up to Sigmascape’s release for only 2 lockouts 5 days a week (so a total of 20 hours per week) in the evenings, not everyone no-lifes Ultimate. You can’t get very far on a fight like it with only a couple hours worth of prog a week, no, but you don’t need 20+ hours a day to clear it either.

World firsts also didn’t spend 20+ hours a day on it either. They did 16~18, with one group doing 21 on the day they cleared because they were that close to a clear.

Nobody is going to care about Ultimate titles or Ultimate weapons after a week.
You can say this, but that doesn’t make it true. Up to Sigmascape’s release, people were actively progging and clearing UCoB. Once the majority of raiders cleared Sigmascape, they started throwing together UCoB groups again. And when UwU was announced, they started making UCoB+UwU groups, and there are still advertisements on a variety of social media platforms advertising for LFG and LFM and have been for several weeks now. Just because you don’t care about the weapon or titles doesn’t mean that “nobody” does. Speak only for yourself, please.

As much as I understand the whole "so few people have done the fight there's no need for more" I don't really agree

As long as they keep the fight extremely hard by preventing player to enter with better gear/ higher level (for Bahamut it's locked to lv70 ilv 345 max), I don't think the number of player that will clear that content will raise by much over the course of the expension simply because you can't overgear the fight.

In other words, if the number of player doing the content is the reason why they should do more / less of that content, they should simply stop doing it because there won't be more player doing it (not a lot i mean)
I'd like to give it a shot one day, perhaps this summer when i'll be done with university

You'll note that I don't mention these things until someone brings up something they could only have known by using a parser. Bourne named the parser plugin first, and in this case it was Yoshi-P who brought it up at all. It is still my view that the parsers suck the fun out of the game, and this thread is a perfect example of why.

You want hard content? Then why are you using a cheat tool to win it? That should not count as a clear, and when these same people complain about there not being another "Ultimate" for the 4.x patch cycle, perhaps they should ask themselves why should the developers bother to spend months developing a fight only for a couple of people to spoil it for everyone two days after it's released. Wouldn't it suck for Yoshi-P to go "Well due to the amount of users who cheat using parsers, we're no longer going to invest any resources in high end fights. Enjoy your casual theme park." That would be the ultimate punishment for using parsers, is for everyone to be punished because of a few people who can't even be polite and pretend that parsers don't exist.

The developers will never be able to make the "hard content" you guys want if you keep using the cheat tools to solve it. Yoshi-P's only real solution to this is to make DPS numbers meaningless, randomizing and fake-out mechanics, or even recognizing players who are cheating and give them loaded dice so that they can not use their cheat tools to win it. In a sense, you're asking for Yoshi-P to make a fight that can not be cheated by any means, and that is probably something that will never exist.

    *business hat on*

If I was SE's legal department, I'd ask why Yoshi-P has not banned people who blatantly using parsers, and the response would be "that costs money". Ok, so what about streamers who blatantly use parsers? I'm sure they are reported by the vengeful trolls all the time. "that costs money too". There is a specific level of abuse that has to be crossed where "that costs money to do" becomes a better option to "we're losing subs because nobody wants to play with cheaters"

Does FFXIV deserve a reputation of being full of cheaters? No. But people who keep mentioning parsers, ACT, fflogs, etc on the official forums without being being warned or having those posts ninja-edited gives the impression that SE does not care about the integrity of the game. I'm actually surprised Square-Enix hasn't put any pressure on the Reddit for the same.

I'm sure I'll get a headdesk worthy response to this but I'm genuinely curious of the train of thought. How is knowing your own dps numbers cheating?

I'd argue with you, but I'd likely win the argument, and then you'll try to have me banned again, since that's how you win arguments. Keep up the good work! You're my favorite forum poster.

Doing anything other than what Kisai says to do deserves to be banned. Use parsers? ban. Try to get better? ban. Raid difficult content? ban. disagree on the forums? ban. Use a DPS spell as a healer? BAN TWICE.

I fully expect to be banned for explaining this to you, so, nice to meet you!
