Thread: New Character Creation V2.0 and you

Personally, it seems to me like the changes in character appearance are simply due to the new graphics engine being used. The map facelifts are going to be considerably more severe since they're basically ousting the copy/paste redundancy to allow for such large "seamless" maps. But it's not like our characters are also going to have crystals popping out of our pores. (... unless it's an event or enfeeblement or something...)

The need to rehash our appearance is more or less based on the aesthetic preferences of we the players, not some kind of magical face-melting event in the game's story. So I'm just hoping it's an option thrown up there when we log in on a character for the first time after the overhaul.

I agree. I myself am not up for some big fancy thing, but me myself I don't want to log in and see a "Would you like to recreate your character? Yes / No Are you sure you would like to? Yes / No (In thick red letters now) Once you hit confirm you will no longer be able to return to here. Are you absolutely sure? Yes / No

Me myself, what would like to happen is be able to log in and either receive a ticket or by talking to a certain npc or it just appearing in your inventory. Though I'm not sure if you are full on items how that would work. If it is a npc who gives it to you there can be a short explanation on what the ticket does and how it works. From that point on the ticket has an expiration of so and so amount of days (that ways you can't save it forever) and it would not be able to trade.

The only reason I am against being able to just log in and be given an option is to me that could cause quite a bit of confusion if it is not properly executed. Like I said earlier, there are people who avoid the forums and the site all together because of the way people talk about and handle things around here. People will be out of the loop. There are plenty of people who have quit until 2.0 comes to be. And to just log in one day and see this option here I fear could cause quite a problem. Like Rem said earlier there will be bad feedback no matter what happens, but perhaps it could be kept to a minimum. Not only that, but there could be some people who are still undecided (like myself) and may not even be ready by then. And I would like to be able to continue playing while I still know I can think about the choice.

I mean something like "I was asked to recreate my character when I logged in! I didn't want to start over so I said no. Now I find out that I could have kept all my levels and everything!?!? And I can't do this anymore? S.E. how could you do this to me?"

Let's come up with complex answers for what SE can do! They will certainly have enough time to scope out the work, plan it, delegate the workload, do the workload, test it, correct bugs, add voice acting / text / cut scenes before 2.0. I can understand how you feel. I can agree with some something simple, though this is still a discussion and I'd like to hear what other people would like. Because I list cutscene and event at the opening post does not mean I want that to happen. I am just throwing ideas around so I don't have a blank post of nothing. Even though you may not agree with them I still would like to hear other peoples opinions are and what they would like to see happen regardless of how far fetched it may be. That can't hurt anything. I still think S.E. will do what they want in the end. However, like I said maybe something will pop up here that may catch their eye. That 1 in a million chance.

Can you tell me how you would like to see this executed? I'm not sure what you mean by when you say option. Maybe I'm just having a dumb moment. ; ;

That would be fine, but what if you can not log in? what if the changes from old to new are so different, that the old character would not be compatible to even log in until changes are made to it.

I see what you mean about people not understanding, but that honestly would be their fault for not reading update notes.

Now that said it could be worded differently....like....
