I've talked to some of my shell members about this as well as other people in game. Maybe I'm hoping something could be said in advance. I do know that like you said there is all that / r going on. Because of this I know people who avoid the forums all together. The whole site even. I've mostly been a lurker and just watch. I'm usually too afraid to post anything because I feel like I'd be slapped in the face. Some people don't even read updates because they don't want to ruin the surprises coming to the game. I was surprised with how people handled the goobue and did not know it would cause the mess it did. Either way I'm not sure I'd be prepared for the update if it were to just randomly happen so I'd like to be prepared somewhat as to what were happen when it did. Maybe something could be said that will catch their eye and make them want to do that.

I know chances are probably slim, but I can still hope. Either way thank you for the discussion. c:
It's very rare you get a direct response from me to be honest. The best way to handle the forums is to realize that most people, that are posting, are stupid or ignorant (please see the definition of these two words in your nearest dictionary; people seem to think these words are insults).

I approach every thread as if it were a joke being started by a troll. Sometimes people are serious, but it's only met with harsh opposition and becomes a 158 page back and forth flame war.

But yeah, these forums are a joke pretty much everywhere. I think the only forums that could be worse are ZAM's forums. Don't you dare mention anything positive there or you will be flayed and burnt to a crisp. View my new signature at this time. Logic is something that doesn't come easily to a lot of people on these forums. The ones who think this game is being built as a niche game and for the ffxi / ff purists usually are the ones raging due to change. No one likes change, but eventually they will accept or move on. *Tired..*

I'm sure there may have been someone who said "Oh I don't like the chocobo cause of how it was added in. You could just buy it instead of quest for it like in 11."
There were plenty of chocobo threads... "too easy to get", "it just appears under you...", "no choco emotes?", my personal favorite "why can't i walk with my chocobo?!", "why doesn't the chocobo have better turning animation?". Those were threads that come to mind.

Character re-customization has been confirmed by Yoshi-P himself, but he is not sure if he will allow gender and name changes. When you click on your character to log in you will be brought to the character creation menu most likely.

Gender change is confirmed. Or we all need to make a new char for the new genders coming with 2.0
Only the name change is still in the air

I think we would be automatically entering the char creation with the char in the old setting, then we can press ok or make/test some changes.

So everyone I've been thinking. I'm fairly confident that we will get to remake our characters with the release of v2.0. I can't remember if its been confirmed exactly or not (I'm quite lazy and don't keep up with all the patch notes) so I won't say it will be. However, I was wondering if it is how this should be added into the game or if its even worth thinking/doing something about. I'm not sure if there have been any plans like this, but I just would like to know what would you like to see happen.

Would you like it to just magically happen when you log in one day? How about talking to a certain npc and to be granted a single ticket (maybe the ticket should or shouldn't have an expiration) you can use to take you back to the creation screen. Perhaps there should be a quest involved? Maybe as the new world is being formed so will we? I'm not sure. There could be a nice cutscene or event that could happen. Maybe we can become a spirit (or zombie) for a certain time until we can obtain a new body!? Maybe you wish nothing at all to happen. Just trying to make a conversation. I apologize if this has been discussed already. ; ; I could find nothing of the such.

tl;dr - When v2.0 happens how should we be able to create a new character?
This is something I have been thinking about; we already know that we are going to get the option to create a new character, but what if that process was part of the new eorzea lore.
Let’s say for instance that you start your new character, choose class/job and wake up in whichever city you chose, instead of jumping right back into your old levels and gear and retainers and such, what if the THM guild was going around checking to see if there were any last rites they needed to perform and they find you, they got word that you did not remember who you were, but because everyone thought you were dead, now it falls on the guild to try to figure out if you’ re really alive or a manifestation of someone before the world was reborn.
This I figure we could do for the first 10 levels, sort of like a re-introduction to the world, learn the new controls, new UI, new mobs, new leveling system, new leves, and such. Whenever the guild sends you on a quest, the goblin footprint/echo event could be instrumental in reliving past major events from this version of the game. So by the time you get to level 10 we would have an idea about the new system set up in the game, and at level 10 you choose to get all your gear and stuff from this version, but if you choose to continue on from level 10, then your reward would be gear, gil, new retainer, at least 3k GC points for each of the GC, exp scrolls or something like that, of course whatever they decide would have to be really good to encourage you to continue on.
This is just an idea, thought I’d mention it.

This is a pretty cool idea too.

I really think we should just log in and the game will prompt us to make our new avatar for version 2.0.

But I really like the idea of a CS of our old changing into the new. Maybe the coming of the 7th era would kill us and our soul has to create/ get reincarnated. That would make for a cool CS. Would would be epic if we saw our old avatars in the CS but it would not be needed.

eh making it to "showy" though could turn bad, it does not really need to be explained at all. If it is though, it needs to be done in a light manner.

Let's come up with complex answers for what SE can do! They will certainly have enough time to scope out the work, plan it, delegate the workload, do the workload, test it, correct bugs, add voice acting / text / cut scenes before 2.0. Especially when something this "major" affects soooo many people dot dot dot 15,000ish active players. The people who aren't playing and still have a character probably won't give a damn if it says "remake your crap? yes / no"

Three things I hope for about avatar customization for 2.0.

    1. Many, many more options to our looks.
    2. Only I can be Miqo'te.
    3. Some kind of mirror in your mog house, allowing you to change hairstyle and makeup every now and then. Yes. That would be cool.

Is this something you would like added in extra. I actually like the idea of a mirror to change hair style and the such. I actually find the idea of using a barber kind of lame when you can just do your hair yourself!
