Sound aggro monsters refers to monsters that will aggro if you run by them even while they're not facing you. Since they're not facing you, it can't be sight, they must be 'hearing' you run by. To avoid it, you just need to switch to walk mode and walk by.

Note: "Walking" while on a mount will still aggro them.

Caution: Some sound aggro monsters may also be sight, so you may still want to avoid walking directly in front of them.

How do you know what monsters are which? Trial and error.

Yeah, the main way to level in this game is by being power leveled which some people hate but have no choice to accept because the current player base is well beyond capped, but some still party once you hit the 40s~, so it's a rough ride till then.

Sound mobs are aggressive mobs that aggro by sound, like Crabs, Puks, Raptors, Gnats, Chigoes, Does etc. You can simply walk past them and a lot of people didn't realize this till SE released Treants that'll smack your shit in if you run past it.

I *think* there are also enemies that detect by some other method. If it's following the FF11 route it has to be Smell? But anyways, Wolves and Hogs will attack you if you are within a small range of them, no matter if you are behind them or walking. I want to say it's scent aggro because canines and pigs IRL have good sense of smell...

I hope so. I always wondered why FFXI didn't take advantage of that. They had monsters that tracked you by scent (walk through water and they lose your trail), but nothing ever actually aggrod by smell in FFXI.
