[SPOILERS] Which moments tugged at your heartstrings?

Final Fantasy has always been heavy on its story, and FFXIV is no exception. From some well-articulated quests to the main story itself, there are tons of characters and interesting moments to be seen. So, which one's are your favourite and which ones had you the most invested?

Was there anything that made you laugh out loud, or break out the tissues? Before the next chapter unfolds on Eorzea, let's share our favourites so far.

I thought of using hide tags but the thread title already warns about spoilers so...

Haurchefant of course was pretty sad.
What really messed me up worse than his death, really got me badly, was his father holding his shield and breaking down crying. That seriously was painful to watch and hurt my heart.

When I thought Vidonfir was dead I almost raged because I really like her so it didn't hit me as sad I just got pissed off lol but then they said she was getting healed so I relaxed.

As for funny well anything Hildebrand was pretty silly. I also had a good laugh with the Thancred modesty Nutkin.

I liked the Lalafell Seer Krile's reaction dialogue to the Warriors of Darkness. "The Warriors of Darkness? Really?" something like that. It was pretty funny because I took it as a 'are you serious? this is dumb' type of "really?" lol I am not sure if that is how it was intended or not. My boyfriend had a funny quip about it when we watched that scene. He was like "The Ascians have competition for the 'Worst Villains Ever' title now".

The whole Hildibrand questline is a gift The characters the dialogue probaly the only questline cutscenes I never skipped but on another note the scholar lvl 50 quest with the reveal of the tonberry kinda got me a little misty eyed ;_; especially when it flashed back to when he was a lala for a brief moment the music was brilliant the that scene as well.

Although it has long since lost a lot of it's impact,

the whole 'bloody banquet' at the end of 2.55 still is a massive kick in the belly - especially seeing everyone sacrifice themselves one by one. It is still my favourite scene of the whole game.

The aftermath of Haurchefant's death of course comes a very close second, especially Edmont's aristocratic stiff-upper-lip finally crumbling and he breaks down sobbing "MYYY SONNN!!!" I admit it, just started sobbing too, weeping to my computer screen "Cry! Cry your manly tears! Grieve for your son!"

And in a similar vein, Ysyale's sacrifice at the gates of Azys Lla.... as much as I disliked her at first, regarding her as a straw activist at best, her selfless attempts to redeem herself for her earlier actions really yanked the heartstrings hard. And of course, turning herself into Shiva and facing down the damn flagship of the Garlean Empire and permanently disabling it's engines even after her death, was an amazing and horrifying sight.

Only thing so far is Haurchefant and that's it. Maybe there will be more down the line but so far nope.

SPOILERIFIC 2.0-3.2

The biggest one for me is when you meet the Vath and they tell you that they've been ostracized. And then when you unlock the beast quests you find out their ostracizers want to starve them off. It's the most infuriating thing.

Hraesvelgr telling Ysayle about Shiva. Her subsequent death.
Haurchefant's death.
When the friendly Kobols are bullied.
When you confront Cocobusi's possessor.
When you find Voyce - he's just really charming.
When Severian sticks up for Jandelaine.

I was playing through the last bits of the 3.2 MSQ while my girlfriend who started playing recently was doing the early stuff. Having a happy, flirty Thancred on one monitor and a worn, broken Thancred on the other was rough, especially that cutscene with Krile outside Castrum Meridianum.

Another one was Y'sthola's eyes. I was watching a cutscene with her and my girlfriend asked if that was her, saying she thought she had bright green eyes. I just said "so sad". The thought of her slowly dying just to see the world around her is harsh.

We also ran up to Dragonhead to unlock the aetheryte for her, and I took her up to the cliff west of Steel Vigil to show her the Ishgard that awaits her in the expansion. I completely forgot about the grave that showed up on my screen but not on hers, and again I just said "so sad", not wanting to spoil anything.
