New Disciple of the Land: Beast Master

The Beast Master would use various "Treats" that are similar to a Fisherman's Bait and equip Whistles in their main hand and various traps in their off hand. The Whistle would be used like a fishing rod to call fourth animals after setting your trap and treat in a prime location. The locations would appear just like harvest points. The animal that gets captured would be random but it would allow you to actually milk a creature for more servings or fleece a sheep for more wool. Beast Master's would be the better way to farm for items that we had to previously kill for. They would also have a rare chance of taming creatures allowing them to bring a whole new variety of minions and mounts to the game. They could even sell racing Chocobos since they are also out in the wild. I think it would be a neat new Disciple of the Land that could actually use gathering and perception gear to the fullest unlike Disciples of War and Magic who have lower drop rates.

There was a shepherd in the .dat files in 1.x and even a guild hall, I think in CCH, but it was never implemented.

While I"d like it, I think you can just add some additional facets to Combat if you're looking to hunt down animals.

Add belts you wear that modify combat stats when hunting.

Skinning Belt: Damage dealt is reduced by 20% but Skin and Hide drop rate is increased.
Shearing Tools: Damage dealt is reduced by 20% but Fur, Fleece and Hair drop rate is increased.
Sedative Wrap: Damage dealt is reduced by 20% but Milk drop rate is increased.

    Stuff like that.

I would love to have a DoL class to harvest stuff from monsters/animals. For the moment i just use ninja and use mug and pray i get it, which can be frustrating.

Too easily trolled/monopolized by bots; either nothing's worth farming or it becomes another situation like 2.0 diremite webs.

Coerthas Western Highlands actually, in Falcon's Nest no less. But yes, SHP was a planned fourth DotL class in 1.0 that sadly was never introduced to the game (along with a number of other classes, like the original version of ACN, Musketeer (MSK), Fencer (FCR) and Mystic (MYS)).

It even had a class logo (a pair of antlers):

Unfortunately I doubt that the class really ever even existed as little more than a name and a class logo in that Tanaka's team had never actually progressed to a design stage that actual mechanics and abilities had been worked out for the class, which explained it's no-show in 1.0 (and it's pretty telling it's now abandoned given it's never used Guild Hall has completely disappeared from Falcon's Nest in HW with no sign it even ever existed sadly, unlike MSK which still has it's never-used Guild Hall in Limsa Lominsa, but that's another story).
