So Rathalos is a trial. Already hinted with an 8 man party in mind.

Indeed, along with the scene of 8 players popping that emote at the same time.

Begs the question, however, if it's going to be an actual instance trial does that mean it's permanently in the game? Or are they just experimenting with a new type of temporary duty for special events?

They've done temporary duties for special events in the past, the Halloween mansion and the Valentione's venue come to mind. They'll just be accessible through an NPC instead of in the DF

Considering how stupidly popular Monster Hunter is in Japan, it would not surprise me if it was permanent. XIV has already recycled their events from the past and once the monster is in the game, it's in the game. (Look at Yokai Watch.) It doesn't get removed; it simply gets disabled.

I'd rather get his armor personally.
We have a real lack of monster-like armor in the game and it would work great in XIV I think.

I know this won't happen BUT.... how cool would it be if you could substitute a Palico as your companion instead of a Chocobo? I mean, I love my featured buddy, but I'd love a Palico even MORE.

Event though the trailer literally shows Summer 2018 and that the assets are possibly already in the game as we seen them in the game engine?
