Isn't the i340 crafting or gathering top a kimono?
I don't know for sure, I only looked at it once a while back through wonderous tales. Might be something to check out though.

Yesterday I did the Custom Delivery quest for Kurenai where she and Hisui wore the same kimonos that Tataru wears on the picture you linked. Seems like they even are dyeable (and they seem to dye nicely too). The Hingan housing NPCs and other NPCs in the game also wear different ones and similar eastern themed clothing. And we can't have any of them...
I get that it probably looks weird on some classes like Monk because the kimonos are very tight around the legs. But we get so many clothes and hairstyles that clip into everything that it just doesn't matter anymore. It's my choice if I would want to wear a kimono on Monk even though it would look stupid with the animations.
Yeah, it's nice that they've done it for DoH's new gear I suppose, but that still isn't equippable by all classes.
What about something more loose or open in the front like Yotsuyu's? It's free enough so she can lift her leg up and stomp on people.
Yeah, they would look quite bad with any of the melee classes, either clipping or stretching to rediculous widths... You only need to look at 99% of the loose or long clothing in game, and how they bell out at or below the waist. As you say, it would be nice to have the choice though.I get that it probably looks weird on some classes like Monk because the kimonos are very tight around the legs. But as an artist, I know myself that pride wouldnt allow me to release or make anything that I couldnt make it work or look decent. Crafting classes would get away with it, but thats about it.
It looked like one but not like those that most NPCs wear and they are restricted to crafters.
So +1 for the OP. (But not for the Mogstation part)
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Both are kimono, but in a 'working' style with the sleeves tied back (and the gathering kimono is more of a shirt).
