    Game begins downloading a large update file upon startup (PS4)

    I just tried logging on to FFXIV on my PS4 and, after it checked to make sure the launcher was up to date and I logged in, the game began to download a 27 gigabyte patch file. I cancelled the download, closed the application, and when I booted FFXIV up again a bunch of text appeared stating that there was corrupted data, along with various error codes (I wasn't able to take a screenshot, unfortunately). I was able to play this morning without any issues, and I properly logged out of the game, closed the application, and shut down the system, so I'm not entirely sure how this happened. Before this occurred, I was fully up-to-date with the latest patches.

    I've heard of this issue before, and I'm guessing that my only option is to do a fresh reinstall of the entire game? Or should I let the launcher download the file?

    Yes unfortunately, our suggestion would be to do a fresh reinstall of the game. Please keep us updated on if this solves your issue.

    I reinstalled the game and downloaded the patch files, and successfully logged on to my character without issue. It seems that fixed the issue. Thank you for the help, Ariellendera!
