But in all seriousness....you have to be pretty...well...uh....how can I put this....a pom short of a moogle to buy dye on the market board.

9 times out of 10 its easy to make yourself..or you can buy at a NPC....hell at that rate ask someone to make it for you.

Exception being the metallic dyes etc.

The cool thing is that one DoH class can craft the whole lot of available dyes for crafters assuming it is at a sufficient level to do so. So no need to level all 8 of them if crafting is not your thing. Unfortunately, available dyes for synthesis makes up less than half of all available dyes to players. Some dyes are also NPC specific i.e. only one vendor sells a particular dye, so sometimes research is required on where to exactly find the dye you're after. So I wouldn't go as far to say as buying dyes of the MB is bad practice. It definitely is if you buy an overpriced stack of a common dye when the vendor who sells it for cheap is literally right next to you.

Yes, of course. We pay ridiculously high prices for convenience in the game much like we do in real life. A lot of similarities in gaming and real life economies, especially when it comes to the cutthroat sharks

Once there were very few electrum ores up for sale on my server for 400 gil each, so i bought everything from the market and listed them myself for 900 gil each.

You can honestly split larger stacks and sell them at a similar or higher price and still get it sold quickly. It’s the difference between being made to pay 80k for a single dye, or getting it for 1.5k. But I get the sentiment. It’s so annoying to need a specific color and only thing on the mb is a full stack.

When I first bought my apartment, I didn't realise vendors sold furniture, so I bought two of those fancy fans for 50k each (among other things)... only to discover they were 5k at a vendor immediately after. I then turned around and did the same to get my money back five fold. >>;
When I bought my house, I did the foolish mistake of not checking the housing merchant, assuming my vendor had everything. Bought 3 toro lamps for 50k. Found them cheap at the outdoor vendor again.


It seems I never learn my lesson. :|
