what's about after 70 lvl.
About the story - I'm not saying it's bad, it's ultra generic fantasy... I hope for some interesting things.
Indeed Ninja is a involved job and you will definitely need to use all of your skills to be competent. The fun of it for me is knowing when to use the various support skills and harmonizing with whatever group that i'm in, but only you can decide if it's something you find enjoyable or not. I would normally suggest getting to 70 and trying diff content, however this being a subscription game I wouldn't want you to waste $ on something you don't enjoy.Well the problem with combat is the main one... friend told me that I will have to use like 20 skills to be actually good in dungeons but in the same time it's like 10-15% increase in dps compared to using 5-6 skills. And I'm not sure if he was trolling or is it really, because such design would be pretty unrewarding.
I have to disagree. Like OP I wasn't blown away by ARR - I didn't dislike it, but at the same time I played very casually and it didn't do much for me. The story until level 50 is pretty dull and sometimes tedious, the combat is slow, and there's not much in the way of visuals or game play to grip you, be it dungeon, glamour or scenery. I could have taken or left the game until I hit 50, when better armor, raids, primal fights and the Dreams of Ice story line actually started to peak my interest and class mechanics started to come together, making fights less repetitive and more engaging.
To the OP, while you don't have to, I'd say it's worth giving it a chance to at least 50 if you're undecided. The game's slow start is one of its biggest weaknesses and why a lot of new players get turned off, but if you hang in there, you might find a lot to enjoy.
The Lodestone is saying you're a level 48 Rogue, but not a Ninja. Is that just Lodestone screwing up your profile with incomplete info? (It does that sometimes.) Or did you actually advance that far without unlocking your job?
If it's the later, then that's why combat seems stale. You've gone to 48 while still playing as if you were at 26. Unlock your job, get caught up on all your job quests, and see if you still find it boring while incorporating your ninjutsu skills.
As for the story, it has its peaks and dips. Personally, I find most of it enjoyable and some of its highlights great, but even I see some troublesome pacing issues at times. Where are you at in the story? If we knew that, it'd be easier to say whether you're just at a slow point that'll get better soon, or whether you don't like even the parts considered good which would suggest it may just not be to your taste.

The "entry" for FF 14 imo needed to be addressed in HW, it is hard to sell ppl on a game on "it gets better past ARR!" that is 30-50 hours of someones time. First thing they need to do is move the passives to the "job" levels (job quest and skill, passive, passive, job skill/quest, etc) EVERY class should have a 3 part combo by 16 and first dungeon imo (along with 2 ogcd moves for DPS and a combination of ogcd and active skill for healer and tank) Also needs to make it clear to new players that they can level on the main story alone, and as such accommodate the xp gains to make sure there is no leveling gaps. And maybe axe some of the fetch quests lol. (whole banquet part can die in a fire -.-)
wanna say that if you stick it out, you will enjoy what you eventually get too, and i sincerely believe that: that said, it can be "bad" to force yourself to play something you aren't enjoying since it can lead to a sort of resentment that will sour the experience for you. (happened to me trying to force myself to like warlords of draenor, and what coulda been me skipping an xpac for WoW turned to quitting it in the long run)

Disclaimer ARR sucks and is gruelling, but the backstory it provides is important for later content. Heavensward (next expansion after ARR) is really good. It's better organised and directed. Hits you in the feelz department. Stormblood is my personal favourite (people usually either prefer HW or SB). SB has my favourite storyline, environments, dungeons, raids (minus Omega), and trials so far. I can't really specify without fearing of spoiling...
Another good reason to FFXIV (youtube, no spoilers)
You're not harsh, its your opinion, you are allowed to do you, y'know. With all that listed however; its brutally obvious the game is not for you.The combat in this game is probably one of the worst I have ever seen... so I'm looking for something good about this game, could you tell me what do you think is good and why? I'm thinking about subscribing but I don't know if anything will change later on, currently I'm level 40 and the cons I see:
-the story seems to be super generic with almost zero voice acting
-the combat is ultra boring and also character tends to have multiple skills that are pretty much useless
-the waiting times for dungeons is pretty long (usually around 20 minutes)
-the amount of backtracking in story is just hilarious...
Will anything from this list be better later in the game? Or maybe something will appear that will just blow my mind?
I don't want to sound harsh but well - that's what I trully see when I play the game.
One of the key selling points is the story but its generic fantasy for you.
Combat hasn't really been the forte and you already point it out to be the worst in your personal experience.
You're playing as a DPS which means your queue times are horrid by default.
The backtracking is mostly a thing in the 2.0 era content. Its much less after you start 3.0's story line.
About the only thing I can add is the game does have a solid content release schedule. But that looks like a moot point considering the rest of your gripes.
If you say so.
