    Should the current tier's tome stones remain capped?

    One of the things I really dislike about the current tome system is that it always seems to remain capped at 450 until the next tier comes out. The exception to this being near the end of an expansion they usually double the cap a patch or two before the expansion's release. It seems kind of odd to me that they release all these new ways to catch up on your item level but never ease up on the weekly tomes at all.

    It seems to be that at the very least, the weekly cap should double when a new Alliance raid is introduced and if they unlock Savage again a few weeks after Ulimate's release, they should also lift the tome stone cap.

    Is there a reason they shouldn't do this?

    I've heard the argument that if they didn't impose a cap people would be fully geared with in a day or 2 and unsub until the next content patch. Not sure if it would go that route, but I could see it being the case.

    this doesn't work any more with the augmented crafted gear. You can be i359 day one on a job just by paying gil or making items.

    Another idea I've liked: If you don't cap, the remainder is added to next week's cap.

    This especially lets players coming back for the patch, or that were otherwise unable to cap for one reason or another, get on the level with other players more quickly.

    I imagine one of the the primary reasons is to try and keep people subbed longer.

    On the flip side, you have people like myself who would much rather have the freedom to level other jobs and gear them "properly" per my own personal standards. Since I can't get them geared in any sort of timely manner due to the lockout, it has killed my interest in most other jobs. Then I start thinking about how I can do most of the content I usually run (roulettes, 24 man raid, etc) with minimal gear, so what the hell is the point in pushing to gear in the first place? So then I just stop capping tomes and don't bother to gear outside of the (uncapped) 2nd tier tomes, which then leads to me AFKing in towns all day doing nothing. Finally due to the boredom, I unsub anyway. :X I have repeated this pattern far too many times in the span of this game's existence. Perhaps one day I'll finally realize this game is not for me and stay away for good.

    That got released in 4.3... after 4.2 introduced i360 gear... a whole three months ago... though 4.3 is a catch up patch, so naturally, non-weekly locked i360 gear would be a thing.

    There's only a few crazies that would be fully geared in 2 days.

    I would like to see the caps removed permanently. I don't think it's unreasonable to collect 200-300 tomes a day for casual play. At least put the minimum up to 10k so I can purchase the mendacity tokens needed for a weapon each week.

    As someone who plays all jobs, the current cap amount seems slow especially if you want multiple tome weapons on top of armor sets. Wouldn't mind the weekly amount going up from 450 to 600 or something. Can slightly raise the payout of certain roulettes so players with very limited time can still reach cap each week.
