I keep getting this Unexpected error (17) everyday and cannot log in

The error is when I get into a random map, suddenly game stop loading and an error appear saying: "An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV. (17)" then crash me out of the game. After that I cannot log in my specific character (my main) anymore. I can still login the game and get into other any characters except my main.

This is the 3rd times I got this error and the 3rd day also. It's like everyday I got this error. It's very frustrating. I tried the Techsupport and the only advise they give me is to reinstall the game, which I did. And I can login the character, but then it will happen again later at some points, then I get tech support and they told me to reinstall. And the cycle reappear. I even try to change my installing directory and even My Documents folder to see if the files corrupted was there but even after that error still occur.

Seriously I don't know if reinstall really fix this problem because then it will just happen again. Maybe give me some other advice for how to prevent this error to happen? Because redownloading the game everyday (30GB) took me 6-7 hours and it's not a fun thing to do.

Hello KingEndimon, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

    When did this start happening?

Have you made any changes or updates that may coincide with this issue?

Can you please take a screen shot of the error message?

Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV! Hope to see you online.

It starts happening at the beginning of last week, around 5th or 6th of June. Since then the error keeps happening every once in a while, force me to reinstall the game every time (this is the 5th times already). I take a break from the game at the beginning of May and just came back on June 4th. I didn't change any Windows setting or anything, just let the game update for patch. About Windows Updates, it updates everyday so i don't know if that's the case.

Screenshot of the error (it happened again today when I was getting into a quest instance).

Thank you for the update KingEndimon.

Unfortunately, that error message doesn't give us much to go on. It basically says that something stopped working and crashed the game. Because of that, there are a lot of potential causes to the error and a lot of potential solutions.

-Switch to DirectX 9 mode (select ‘Config’ from the launcher)
    -Update/reinstall Graphics card drivers
-Disable all programs/overlays running in the background
-Make sure that any anti-virus software they have has the appropriate exceptions
-Install game on C drive (The same drive as the Operating System)
-Set compatibility mode to Windows 7. Right-click on the .exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select 'Windows 7.'
-Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
