    You're assuming the character data isn't linked to stat data isn't linked to graphical data. If it was that easy they would jut put in a "hide" flag to anything they don't want displayed.

    Its likely that the item data is linked to character data is linked to stat data is linked to graphical data, if they simply hide the item it would probably negate the stat data. which is why its not a simple fix. They'd have to write a display bypass while keeping the stat, assuming that a bypass function would work in their current code. It maybe they'd have to rewrite the whole thing to put the hide function in there. And again we don't know how deep the module is written or if its embedded inside another module.

    Ugh, don't want to get into the crazy argument thread going on here but I'm agreeing more on Soukyuu's side. It /should/ be that easy. I believe it would be very similar code to what their using with head / weapon.

    Pretty sure currently for head/weapon it's just /not rendering/ the item when you have the command turn on to not display.

    IF they are rendering accessory (which I'm fairly confident they are) all they have to do it is NOT RENDER when the user inputs the command to /display accessory off that way stats are still accounted for, slots are still accounted for ect the ONLY thing different is the user and others not seeing it.

    It shouldn't be any more simple. But perhaps they went about doing it an odd way.

    SE is slowly turning this game into XI...

    Mages not being able to move and cast, which is nonsense.

    Accessory slots reform, like many people stated above, limiting peoples choices of stats. True you can equip more pieces at a time 5 items vs 3 (i.e. three mind rings, or two HP bracelets and Vit ring) but the actual useful stats are diminished. Unless the new items that are being released give useful stats to neck/ears (which you can only have 1 of) you really lose out.

    In my world, males don't wear earrings, so I don't want my male characters to do so, but the game requires me to equip items in these slots to maximise my stats.

    But it does work for the weapon AND the helms? Doesn't seem likely.
    You don't lose your stats if you hide your helm or your weapon, it doesn't make sense for them to code one item type differently from another.

    Besides, there was a video (i believe on the CE dvd) where they explained how they handle the items and we were basically told that it's one model for an item type and all they do is switch which "parts" of it are visible, making it possible to display different items while having loaded one.
