    The arguement used to justify this change is that it will improve usability and balance. Players will have more freedom equipping accessories.

    I found this very confusing when you consider the actual measures taken:

    Yes slot costs are being removed, but the number of slots goes down from 9 to 5. This basically means that there hasn't really been changed anything at all when it comes to the amount of stats.
    When it comes to picking the stats, freedom is actually taken away from us! It's pretty obvious that certain item slot types will get certain stats (not much different from the materia system), but with the slots going down from 9-5 you can't focus on your favourite stat. Tanks, for example, can't focus on taking double wristlets anymore for a health, defense boost

    Focussing a bit more on the balance part: The effects of stats on gear with the exception of mp and hp are hardly noticeable at all. SE is worried that melee doing one more damage from extra Strenght will bring the game out of balance?

    I can understand the simplification though. It's less data to worry about, but from a players point of view: it's a loss.

    Why do you think certain slots will only get certain stats just from those examples?

    Those examples looked very appealing to me, stat-wise. Actual gathering/crafting stats on accessories has been a long time coming, and the new pearl ring is pretty sweet. And with more slots I'll be able to wear more stuff compared to my 3 rings (which barely helped at all).

    For me personally, I will be able to go from wearing 3 accessories (3 Dated Aquamarine Rings) to 5 accessories.

    5 > 3

    That seems like a gain to me, not a loss. Chrees is satisfied.

    EDIT: And as Estellios said, we don't even know which stats will be on which accessories. They gave us two examples, which is hardly enough to form any of the conclusions you did.

    Don't you have to jump to conclusions before you actually know whats going to happen though?
    Isn't that how it works on these forums?

    In any case; I am very happy with the change and the two examples. I hardly think we will be as limited as the OP would like to claim we will be.

    I am rather unhappy about the loss of accessories.
    What was wrong with adjusting the stats for the old and new alike and leaving the amount of slots? For those who would not like to display as much they could have added a /display off for each individual accessory slot.

    It's great we are going to see a bigger range of stats; + emnity will be great for tanks, but the overall loss has left a bad taste in this kitten's mouth.

    Edit: As Shaedhen said below, the inventory space would suffer if it remained at nine. This was admittedly something I did not consider and is a very good point. I would still like to see a /display off for EACH individual slot though.

    Very happy with the changes aswell !
    Also, keep in mind that having 9 accessories for every class in you inventory (not to mention there's now specific accessories for dol doh) would have been quite a mess.

    You only get an increase in equiped items if you were using 3 4-slot rings. Until we see what the revamped stats on the old items and the stats on the new items are and see what they combine to, you can't really evaluate if you have equality with what we can currently use.

    Right now I am working on Gambler's Crown and depend on bonding my bone rings x4 to get Tier I. I won't be able to get the same efficient turnover for accessories as before.

    I'm not particularly fond of these changes... Hopefully they will consider the following. Allow where an accessory appears to be changed. For example, some prefer a single earring. Others might want just one bracelet, or to wear a ring on their ring finger instead of index. Personally I don't even like that. Want to cut down how many accessories we got, alright then, I can deal with that. What I don't like however is how they're setting up this stupid appearance stuff. Please allow us to toggle what ear the earring shows up on, if it shows on both ears, one ear. What wrist the bracelet appear on, if on both, and lastly between either ring or index fingers for rings.

    I'm ok with the changes. I just really hope they add a /display earring off command, as wearing earrings for stats will become the norm now and I really don't want my Lalafell to have gaudy gems dangling from his ears.
    So please consider adding a /display option for earrings SE.
