There is absolutely no way I would ever consider paying full price for your game twice.
It would be like buying different platform games. You need that specific software for that type of device this is something that has been on for a very long time.

Customer complaints always seem to sound the same, with that hint of 'im not happy, fix my problem' tone to them. Some justified and some not.

I agree that it is annoying having to repurchase the game and expansions on every platform. I ended up buying the base game and multiple expansions on PS3, PS4, Windows and macOS.

As a contrasting example, in FFXI you only needed to buy the expansion once and you would get it on all platforms. Moreover I also think you could download the Windows game client as part of a free trial and keep playing once you subscribed, without having to purchase the base game.

Incidentally FFXIV runs fine on a Mac in boot camp/Windows. The macOS “port” uses cider middleware and it was basically unplayable at launch (they even stopped selling it for a while and offered refunds) but over time it has become playable to the point where I tend to use it when I don’t want to reboot into windows. It is a nice option to have, though I dream of a native metal version, which would probably double the frame rate.

If you want to nitpick about this. This also applies to the Steam version which is the exact same game as well.

I have a feeling this is because of who gets a "cut" of the store revenue. There's a third party launcher that integrates better with the OSX password manager for the MacOS version that spells out that the MacOS version IS exactly the same as the PC version.

It could also just be a moneygrab or a way to prevent price differentials in different regions (eg EU) from making one version cheaper than another. Personally I think it's silly to do this at all.

You forgot "Fix my problem, (competition) does this, why don't you?" when the competition is usually doing the same. In fact you see this with the WoW comparisons on the forum.

The highlight of my call center career(s) was pushing back on ETF (early termination fee) complaints when LNP (Local Number Portability) came out. Good grief, you canceled, you do not get to negotiate away the ETF.

As people said having to buy a separate copy of a retail game for each platform you want to play it on is normal.

That said I'd never recommend playing anything game wise on a mac computer that wasn't about the same level as a game on a smartphone but that's just me.

Sorry to dig this out, I was googling for it and found this thread.
What do you guys think the "Mac version" actually is?
I installed the free trial on Mac OS and browsed through the files.
This is literally nothing more but the Windows version bundled with Wine.
So you are paying for the exact game you already own and a wrapper that is actually free and open source.
Windows and Mac version should of been included within the price.
If they want you to pay seperately for it they should of made a native port.

    Here's proof:
