    the pet job challange

    first I believe the only way SE can improve pet jobs is to make pet jobs

    how would I redo summoner.
    first I make Carbuncle more summoner family. so it always be on field in battle then I switch the Prime to more summon like bahumat and phoenix so you could have ifrit and shiva and garuda on field service in limit time period at a summon.

    I suggest doing pet jobs like Medic and ranger

    Medic have dog in some tribute to Rinoa
    have medic dog be able gather ie steal medic pack or herb for enemy also tribute to combat dogs as well bomb sniff dogs. it also a way to do chemist, because what is medic but not chemist on battle field. see much are own medical come for studied plants and how mix plant and stuff to make medical also we discovery a turnkit on battle field in one are worlds. I believe a lot are advancement came for battle field with medicals

    Ranger would have hawk but ranger would special in traps and posion and dot
    trap like posion traps and ability make effect posion to equip the crossbow bolts with.
    kind like wow rogue. hawk would more distraction who fly in attack one enemy distract the enemy in combat while ranger use posion bolt and frost tips bolts.
    I notice that when SE release jobs it tried balance it combat roles. ranger would burn dots and ice dots while bard use posion and wind dots

    Imo keep the fake pets like they are now for SCH and SMN since they are magic based and made of aether (IIRC). If they would have a go with actual pet classes, they should do it with release of a new job like beastmaster or ranger.

    I think the best way to redesign summoner is to make the summons actual attacks (and possibly comboing them) instead of keeping a permanent pet out.

    Summon Ifrit: Hard aoe damage etc

    Summon Titan: Hard single target Damage etc

    Summon Shiva: Combos from Titan, Harder single target damage

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    I honestly don't trust SE to code a proper pet class at this point. Trying to control SCH and SMN pets before they turned into unkillable, following turrets was an exercise in frustration. Even now latency issues with both can cause skills to outright be eaten like with Seraph whom if you decide to click any of her skills with 5 seconds remaining on her timer has a 50/50 shot of eating the cast entirely, or applying the affect to part of the party before disappearing.

    That isn't to say improvements can't be made and that if a genuine attempt was made I would be amicable to seeing it happen. However, again, SE just doesn't have the best track record with pet classes to begin with nor redesigning classes for that matter. They'd almost be better off bringing in outside talent to take a look at where the failings in their current approach happen to be at this point. Though you could say that about a lot of their approaches to class mechanics...

    my view on summon titan and Shiva is more
    Titan does protect shield of to players

    I think Carbruncle should be permit familar/pet on field and summon of the Prime should be limit period 10 second to 30 second people love they carbruncle.
    I would include add to addiation carbruncle Amyestial and Diamand if you seen post I done they would related Ramuh and Shiva.

    beastmaster should be limit pet job which focus tamed beast and and drake and fight with them

    if they gave the Scholar pet healing base on scholars stat this would be helpful scholar use one state and Summoner use another

    for example summoner damage and hp for they pet could be base on INT

    aswell as scholar faerie heal and hp base on scholar wisedom state.

    use a new Trait for both jobs called a bond had is a bond shared. if they make summoner and scholar pet have state damage base hp base on they stat this would go a long way improve them. this could be use for other pet jobs too

    They should just keep SMN pets as is, and focus on Trance dancing similar to how BRD goes through its songs, SMN goes through Bahamut, Phoenix, etc. I would say that they need to change Dreadwyrm Trance to Primal Trance where the current summoned egi (or glamoured egi) would get the bigger version upon use and it just plays out as normal with egi assaults. Enkindle would make the the summon use is special attack, i.e Ifrit = Hellfire. Ifirit, Garuda and Titan's large forms and their special attack can be used in HoH so they have proven the concept. Mechanically SMN feels right so cosmetic changes are all that is needed imo. I really hope they add Alexander next expansion via Judgment Trance.

    I been hope for Shiva and Diamond Carbruncle and aswell Ramuh and Amyestial Carbruncle. through I think have trait for both summoner and scholar the take stats for these two and share them with they pet maybe a useful way improve the pets. it easy system to balance too. for every 5 point in int or wisdom equal 1 point of hp and mana aswell increase in healing or dps. through it doesn't have be that low. it also would help future pet jobs.
    wis 5 int 5= hp/heal or hp/dps

    a trait called share bonding would allow SE to balance out hp and such pretty easy

    I'm really on the fence. I like the direction SMN has taken as of late, but I don't think pet jobs can work perfectly with the legacy code present in the background. I think it would be good to remove the pet, keep the trance system, and replace oGCDs/Egi-Assaults/Aetherflow abilities with primal animations. They could keep current ACN ability visuals for ACN and change/upgrade them when equipping the SMN soulstone.

    For example:
    • Bane: Replaced with Leviathan appearing to use Gyre Spume for the same effect.
    • Energy Drain: Replaced with Shiva appearing to use Heavenly Strike for the same effect.
    • Energy Syphon: Replaced with Ramuh using Judgement Bolt for the same effect.
    • Fester: Replaced with Odin appearing to use Einherjar for the same effect.
    • Earthen Armor: Put on standard cooldown like BLM has.
    • Egi-Assault 1: Replaced with Garuda appearing to use current Slipstream (AoE) and shares timer/charges with Ifrit.
    • Egi-Assault 2: Replaced with Ifrit appearing to use current Crimson Cyclone (ST) and shares timer/charges with Garuda.
    • Devotion: Replaced with Good King Moggle Mog XII appearing for the same effect.
    • Painflair: Replaced with Anima for the same effect.
    • Tri-Disaster: Replaced with Magus Sisters for the same effect.
    • Resurrection: Could be replaced with Cait Sith to avoid Phoenix overlap, or keep the overlap.
    • Etc.

    Enkindle could alter these primal abilities to produce a different animation and stronger potency one time each while the buff is active. Ruins/DoTs could remain as is to keep that Rydia flair, or also be replaced with other primal abilities. The removal of Summon 1, 2, and 3 would free up 3 button spaces for new abilities that do real stuff.

    With the Trance system, there is great potential. Initial Glittering Trance could pop out our Carbuncle (glamoured to preference), then turn into Dreadwyrm Trance, which then like now leads into Firebird Trance. It would provide a missing step so we almost always have a trance active and the semblance of still being a pet job, albeit within the current constraints of the trance attack system (attacks when you do, they're temporary summons).

    I like carbruncle I think have them out permitly would way to advance the summoner ability to fight in combat make them not connect to bahumat would also help have summon more like guardian in wow for example out for limit time. make Carbruncle more like familiar of the summoner so you have them out all time also would be awesome. this way you summon different Carbruncle and each devote to different type elemental damage. you have all summon be separate but limit time frame be on battle carbruncle more Summoner's Familiar permitly out on battle field. give summoner and future pet jobs trait give like I said early set amount hp/dps base on Int aswell Scholar and they faire as well future pet jobs. the trait could just be called bond of kinship
    the ideal of take int use as health pool and damage deal is also useful it can be control how much hp and damage base on scale system. if you look int and wisdom in both are really high. it could be like you just add 1k health or even 10k health base state.

    like you I welcome the use of my ideals. for jobs and class by SE through I don't care if they don't

    your ideal make pet job non exsist and that not want I want SE to do the challenge improve the pet job is to figure a system to make it work not doing away with complete. that not good ideal and that not concept of a summoner.

    sound like black mage is more your thing

    the other way for is to overhaul the legacy coding and work make new coding for ffxiv 2.0 through 5.0 if you had team work expansion then switch over and work overhaul the legacy coding when they have time it be way fix legacy ffxiv

    With regard to summoner specifically, I would rather you skin their “spells” as summons.. so instead of “ruin” it makes carbuncle do some equivalent attack. Instead of the miasma dots, it summons...I dunno.. ifrit? to do a “burning” dot.

    So same skills, but actual summoning animations. I’d axe the egi system entirely and just have a carbuncle on the field.

    I also don’t like that you build up a bar to get bahamut...which then allows phoenix. It would be better to have a gauge fill which allows you to call 1 major summon, which depending on which you choose has varying effects. (Think MCH’s battery gauge to turret) Bahamut could be straight dps, Phoenix could be party-wide regen+AoE fire dot, etc.

    I guess a way to make it interesting would be to allow lesser summons to come out akin to guild wars 2 spirits. Basically in there, you summon a spirit onto the field and it just sits where you plop it, giving a radius effect (a lot like the old bishop turret), except the effects vary by spirit and you can pull out multiple at once... but it’s hard to give flavorful differences to all possible summons.
