So since today, if I'm lucky, I'll be able to log into my main character, but never my alt(s). I'll get various errors like 20002, 10104-10105, and even lobby server errors (client will crash). I cannot play. Help.![]()

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Can I get some addition information regarding the issues you're having?
Please provide:
- Platform (PC, PS4, Mac)
- Any error codes or messages you receive upon disconnect (if any)
- Type of connection (wired or wireless)
- Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)
- Frequency at which error occurs
- Everything you have tried to resolve the issue
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
- Platform: PC & PS4
- Any error codes or messages you receive upon disconnect (if any): 2002, 90002, 10104, 10105, connection with the server was lost, the lobby server has encountered an error
- Type of connection (wired or wireless): Wired
- Other programs running while the game is playing (if any): None
- Frequency at which error occurs: Every time I log in for the first time on any character (I have to stay logged in if I don't want the errors to occur). Ran a dungeon and got kicked without warning or a lag spike to the 90002 error.
- Everything you have tried to resolve the issue: These issues started with no changes having been made to my computer. The only difference in behavior is the game.
I have to first attempt like 5+ times to even get past the "connecting to the data center" without it crashing to the desktop with a "The lobby server has encountered an error", and THEN attempt to select one of my characters without it showing up one of those error codes or saying the lobby error message. I even tried all of this on my PS4, and the same things happened, but worse. I had to try a lot more attempts, and at one point even the character selection list was empty. All it showed was the background. Eventually I am able to get into the game, but only after a lot of attempts are made.
I'm on the West coast, but friends on the East coast can't even craft without losing mats to lag spikes and all other sorts of issues.

I'm having the same issues which started randomly on the 6th. It happens every time I try to connect to a current data center or changing to another and on every single character once I do manage to get to the character select and either puts me back at the title screen or closes the game entirely. I am able to eventually to get into the game (takes about 10 minutes each time I logout to get back in)... I've also had 2 random 2002 disconnects while in game and playing normally.
PC user
2002, 90002, 10105 may be forgetting one
Wired- Charter Spectrum
Windows media/music player
Happens a lot because I switch between 6 characters on Excalibur/Sargatanas
I haven't tried anything since it started right as Make it Rain started and also the reports of DDoSs on PSN/Jpn servers. I thought they may have been related and that maybe it would go away if I just waited it out since I'm still able to play.
I'm having the exact same issue and it started around Make it Rain as well. I thought I was alone in having this problem and have been getting super frustrated over it
I think it started with Make It Rain for me too!
Hello Rynn21, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums
The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. Most of the time, it results from certain security/privacy changes on Internet Explorer. Other times it occurs when an application that is running in the background is causing interference, such as Anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, etc.
Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference.
Ensure that the latest version of Internet Explorer is installed on your PC (even if you don't use Internet Explorer), please do not use Edge as that is a different internet platform. Once Internet Explorer is up-to-date, please open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"
Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED.
[SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
Please RESTART your PC now.
Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, then there is a communication error.
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
Hope to be of assistance, Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV! Hope to see you online.
Ok I’m having this problem too and it just started today. I can access the Japan and eu servers by not the N AM ones. I went through your list from top to bottom including the ports. I also updated router firm ware. Still get error 2002
Pretty sure this all started with the latest event. Very common for this game to experience :\ I'll try those, but I highly doubt it will work, since zero has changed on my computer or modem/router.
Edit: Yep, same problems. I'm so sick of this. It's just getting worse and worse. This game is too unstable with their servers.

So, I continued experiencing the errors through the weekend up until yesterday before the maintenance. Today, I have not had a single issue. I made no changes to anything before, during or after these errors happened.
Edit: forgot to mention I live on the west coast in my initial post.

Boredom is the best motivation.
