    All the geomancers we fight in swallows compass use only offensive skills and no heals... spells also don't need to be the same just because they are the same natural element either... a persistent tornado aoe working like shadow flare... water surging forth in a flood... plates of earth rising up and toppling over on enemies... lava bursting from the ground... vines sprouting up and strangling enemies (dot)..sandstorm inflicting sludge... and that's without support skills (bubble to temporarily boost the parties hp or snow flurries to reduce target accuracy....

    All classes are feeling way too similar, the game has already being too streamlined for too long in terms of builds and player style and customization. Is the price to pay for balance and honestly, i don't know if its worth it. We should get more freedom to play roles in a more diverse way, the trinity has served it's function, is time to move on.

    BLM, much like CNJ/WHM, also draws in atmospheric aether for its spellcasting, using their crystal as a siphon. I don't see anyone saying that BLM steps on WHM's toes in the same manner. Desired effect and presentation play a far greater importance than the minutiae for what determines a job's identity, functions, and reception.

    Also I guess a bit of a tangent? My take from what's learned in Encyclopedia Eorzea was that White Magic is not Conjury, Conjury is the filter by which we view White Magic because of cultural circumstance but the arts of White Magic are more akin to raw aetherial energies than earth, wind, and water which are the realm of Conjury. Even without this shift away from Conjury, Geomancy's introduction isn't much of an issue because use and culture inform so much of both.

    Similarly, was there such arguments over the introduction of Samurai because we have Paladin and Dark Knight? They all use swords after all.

    If anything, maybe SE will break the convention and do what they did with Ninja (I know how hard it was for them...) but add Geomancer to 4.5.

    Be pretty awesome! A new healer in 4.5 then add a Tank / DPS for 5.0! Maybe Dancer / Blue Mage, or something unique.

    I know we should take a lot of what they say with a grain of salt, but I distinctly recall them saying they'd never add a job mid-expansion/patch/whatever cycle again. Seemed like a one-time thing.

    Getting a job mid xpac will NOT be happening again. The only reason it happened for Rouge/Ninja was because it was planned for 2.0 release but wasn't finished, and getting it done alongside other patch content was apparently pretty stressful.

    But maybe a sort of spontaneous thing like that could take people by surprise. Also, I doubt a healer would be that hard to balance?
