Isn't exactly efficient if a bunch of potential buyers sees the stack size and skips it for the ones that are much closer to the amounts they actually want/need.

Or maybe a simple solution would be to QOL improvements to marketboard ui itself? For example:
- ability to sort by item stack or stack price - if the item is popular smaller stack at a higher price can get hidden really quickly. Smaller stacks often despite higher per item price are often significantly cheaper overall than a 99 stack. but they are not that easy to find. Also MB is more than just crafting mats and certain items like dyes, unless its your favourite color you will never need in a big stack.
- ability to display price per stack first - currently marketboard is sorted by per item price and imo this price is the most visible. id like to be able to configure mb for myself in a way that the first price i see is a price for full stack - i dont care if i pay 1k gil per item or 5k gil per item for as long as my other needs - quantity and price.
I would also personally love to see a selling quantity restriction on certain items only such as orchestrion rolls or craftable items for ARR relic weapons- these items are stackable in the inventory but a buyer does not need more than one
A buyer may not need more than one for themselves but there have been many occasions I've purchased multiple to give away as gifts and there are other players that do the same.Or maybe a simple solution would be to QOL improvements to marketboard ui itself? For example:

If players could buy partial stacks, there's no need for restrictions. Each player could purchase as much or as little as they want.
As a crafter, I buy mats from gatherers and often wish I could just buy the exact # I need. But when I turn around to sell, I myself set prices according to supply and demand. Of course sellers know that small stacks and single items are in higher demand, so those are priced higher. Large stacks are in lower demand, so are priced lower. That’s not gouging, that’s capitalism.
As has already been suggested, the fairest thing is for partial stack selling to be an option that can be set by sellers willing to do so. Sellers who don’t should not be forced to partial sell if they don’t want to.
No grocery store irl selling a 12-pack of soda for $6 (for example) will allow you to remove one can and pay just
50 cents for it, leaving the other 11 cans on the shelf. But they may be happy to sell you a single can that’s not part of a 12-pack for $1. Do we call that unfair or corporate greed? Not at all. Just capitalism at work.
