I created a separate post before reading this topic, so I copied the information here, where I think it belongs.
I just got back to FFXIV after a long time and I'm facing this "hot problem".
My GPU temperature is going high as soon as I enter the game.
In game, I tried all the possible graphic settings, but the temperature stays around 92ºC. In other demanding titles the maximum temperature I recorded was 82ºC.
The problem also persists with directX 9.0.
I'm not using any overclocking.
Fresh Windows 10 installation and AMD drivers are up to date.
FPS fluctuates between 60 to 70 in "High Desktop" 10 less if I go "Maximum", playing in 2560 x 1080 (ultrawide).
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 18363)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 24576MB RAM
Card name: Radeon (TM) RX 480 Graphics (XFX GTR Black Edition 8 Gb)
Monitor Model: LG ULTRAWIDE
Native Mode: 2560 x 1080(p) (60.000Hz)
All inside a Corsair Carbide Spec Alpha with 3 fans
Has anyone been lucky?
Is there still hope to solve this problem?
I really don't think I can keep playing with the GPU temperature staying at 90 ~ 92ºC.
Thank you all in advance and Merry Xmas!

I have a XFX RX590 with a aggressive fan curve and still can only play this for a few minutes before the GPU overheats and shutdown. Most of my games seem to be running hotter after the last AMD driver update but FFXIV is the only game that crashes my PC.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers and FFXIV with no change to the crashing. So annoying how my old GTX 760 ran this no problem for hours and my new RX590 cant run it but a few minutes.
My Friend has a 5700XT and FFXIV is crashing a lot for him too.
I have a 590 too and had the same issues, limiting the fps in the display settings fixed it for me, gpu usage went from 100% to 45%.
