Never thought this skill belongs in the game. I'll gladly stay in charge of my own movement (and my own screwups should they happen), thanks.

You know with the role actions being increased to 10 come next patch, expect to see more players using Rescue.... for better or for worse.
I've seen it used in EX Rathalos when a party member is stunned and about to eat another face full of claw from Big Red.
It has its uses.
Nope. I’ve gotten dozens of comms and shoutouts in parties (esp in alliance raids) for well timed Rescue use.
If anything, lower the cd on it, please.![]()
I've never used it since my slots are taken up with more important actions. Come to think of it, I've never had it used on me either. But hey, if it works for some healers in some encounters why not?
eh, so this is actually still alive ?!
Anyway I am still not a fan at all of this skill and still think an option should be given to players to disable the use of it on them.
Also to be fair, I haven't been trolled with it since I last wrote the original post - may be I was unlucky that day, maybe that post discouraged potential trollers from using it at those ends ? Idk and Idc really...
To be even more fair, I did have it used on me for real and effective "rescueing" purpose, though every time, it just saved me less than half a hp bar. And given it's very long CD, it's more like an extremely situational skill. And it is still disappointing to see healers prefer it over, say Esuna, because the dude from ultima WF use it on his clear... Once had to make a lvl 70 healer turn it on so we could beat Brayflox's last boss :s I mean it feels like Esuna has become the useless situational/skill, while Rescue is the MUST have... makes no sense to me honestly. But I am digressing here.
In fact, what happened most lately are rescuing that broke my dps uptime. It wasn't from bad intention as the healer did actually thought it would help me but :
- I do my roulette on RDM since I got bored of tanking it for mostly worthless bonus
- I tend to try to keep as much uptime and will often stay in void zone till the very last instant before backflipping out of it
- As a result of this, I got rescued many times, making me mess up my E.Redoublement + Displacement
I also had many other situations like these :
- I am at long range from boss - I get targeted by aoe
- I finish what I was casting and immediately corps-a-corps effectively dodging the aoe.
- Healer tought I was going to get hit so after getting at melee range, I immediately get pulled again at long range (due to lag healer didn't see my corps-a-corps in time)
- Now I need to run back to melee range :/
I know it's kind of my fault since so much risk taking can look like someone who has dps tunnel vision, but this is really annoying at times, especially when you want to test if "you can push that much" : you'll never know if you wouldve have pushed that dps or died.
In the end, I do agree that me demanding the straight removal was a little too much - and honestly because I was still quite angry...
But my new stance being to make it possible for players to decide if they want to be rescuable or not is imo the best decision : let the player decide instead of imposing that on him.
People like me and others who find it annoying will get some rest.
More advanced players who actually know how and when to use it, or those who want to experiment/train, will still be able to take advantage of it during their runs with their guilds/statics.
A while ago my co-healer Rescued me into bad things, so we both died. They just wanted some laughs, they said as much. I later learned that Surecast negates Rescue; and while that isn't always viable - it's some food for thought!
Oh I get why surecast would cancel this, makes sense. But anyway, you'd have to guess when your healer is about to use it to surecast at that moment though... and non-caster can't surecast !
Yea, I sure know you can have fun with that - I do watch Drak and NEST and they had fun with that many times. But again, as I previously said in this thread, you don't do that with people who you don't know and are maybe just there to get over with their roulette : not to lose gils and time on wiping for some lulz.

Ah, NEST. They inspired me to make the static I'm making for 4.4 - amazing people. But yeah, in duties, when I rescue, I'm doing it to try and save people. I'll only troll and do fun shenanigans with the static. Otherwise, I play serious. But I can understand some people might want to turn that off. Especially if they want to challenge themselves. And I am perfectly OK with that.Yea, I sure know you can have fun with that - I do watch Drak and NEST and they had fun with that many times. White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
