How bad is the grind? (Re-rolling a Dark Knight)

Currently I'm leveling through the story in ARR and am planning on re-rolling a Dark Knight once I unlock Heavensward. I was just curious how daunting the grind is starting back at level 30 again. If it's really that bad then I may consider just sticking with my NIN through endgame.

Side Note: Since I will have all the main scenario quests finished when re-rolling what is the fastest way to level? My guess is Dungeons/Levequests?

Up until about 50-60 deep dungeon is probably the best way to level, it just gets old a bit quick imo. It will get you to 50-60 very quickly though

Beyond 60, mostly dungeon roulettes, especially as a tank, fit in the daily trial and raid roulette and you should be there pretty quick.

PvP is also an "option" but mostly only if you can win often

If your server/you have Road to 60 then it will take no time at all to go from 30-50 via dungeons/roulettes. Even without the buff levelling tank is super quick since queue times for anything other than alliance raids are practically non existant. Just be sure to keep your gear up to date while levelling and it will be a breeze.

Edit: I strongly advise against using Palace of the Dead to level, especially since I'm guessing you don't have much tanking experience. Levelling via dungeons gives the benefit of letting you organically develop your skills with the job as they gain new abilities, Palace just throws everything at you without any context and isn't anywhere near difficult enough to allow you to practice/utilise everything.

Thanks for the quick response everyone! Seems like I'll be sticking with re-rolling then. I've been craving to roll a tank as I usually play tanks's in most rpgs. I'll definitely make sure to follow all of your recommendations when starting out the grind. Thanks again all!

if you have squadrons unlocked they are super fast and good exp and much better then most DF teams

Throwing my two cents here, there are several things you can do to help make things go even smoother, assuming you're leveling out of PotD. If you're in an FC, there are actions you can use that increase the exp obtained in battle. Barring that, there're items you can get from squadrons or buy from your GC to give similar buffs. Then there's food, which is a flat 3% increase to battle-exp.
If you happened to pre-order SB, there's also the Ala Mhigan earrings which buff experience up to level 50.

These things make a difference, especially when they stack.

I disagree, tank is the riskiest role to take in a squadron since the healer AI is complete ass and prefers to esuna a negligible dot instead of healing a <30% party member.
