If you play other online games before coming to FFXIV you might have a different view.

Trust me, there is a reason this game is popular right now... not Fortnite popular, but it scratches that online RPG itch that's been sorely lacking. Notice they didn't release everything all at once, I mean we still have Heaven on High and new Eureka in the coming weeks. There's also the new Ultimate raid if you're into that, but it's make for a tiny fraction of hardcores.

Maybe if this game were a full time job to you I can get where you're coming from, but most folk probably have a few hours per week to invest and it works for them.

The only reason WoW's battle content lasts longer is because they rely heavily on RNG, not because it is battle focused.

When the only way to get better gear is to both hope that something for a slot you need drops (personal loot has removed going up against others for drops) and that it rolls the right stats to be an upgrade, of course you're going to end up spending more time doing the content.

And if you're not interested in the latest raiding and mythic dungeons (which are, to be fair, typically excellent pieces of content)? What content do you get?

Even less than we get here, I'm afraid. More world quests that can be cleared in a few minutes and occasionally a time-gated story, handed out piecemeal over the course of several weeks.

Let's not oversell what Blizzard has on offer, ok?

    THIS.

    So very much this.

If you're not into Raids or Mythic+ dungeons, there is nothing, I mean nothing but LFR to do in WoW. Heroic Dungeons are a waste of time, they don't give you anything, not even Badges of Valor (think Tomestones). I don't know why they ever removed Valor, that at least gave me a reason to do Heroics.

In FFXIV at least there's the daily roulettes and that gives you a reason to log on and Q up for a dungeon.

Heck in WoW, the few times I need/want a non-Heroic Dungeon, I'll see 20, 40+ minute waits and sometimes the game won't even tell me the average wait. It won't say anything at all. I've once let it go for an hour+ and still nothing.

Once you do Argus and get through that quest line and get yourself Reliquished Gear, you're done unless you go to Mythic+ or Raids neither of which I'm interested in. I came into Legion late after a 2 year hiatus and I was done with Argus 3 months ago (it was released in November) on my main character.

I literally have nothing to do but level other characters.

Don't you like waiting an additional 2 months for content in an entirely different slot than the rest? Going by the last feast length, 4.35 is the end of July.

I really disagree with their new patch cycles. They're basically sprinkling a few content every other month to make every month feel "new" what happens instead is that a lot of people quit by the time the .5 or whatever comes around. I really used to like the old cycles where we got everything and had so many options, there really is no good reason we still don't have the Ruby tower until July.

I rather people take a break at the end of the patch cycle than at the beginning/beginning-middle

I think it's important to note that when people say "there's nothing to do!" they oftentimes mean "I've done all the things I like to do most/play the game for and want more!". It's still a valid complaint but it's not a very realistic one. SE will never be able to make enough content to give people at end-game "something to do" all the time. It's simply impossible. Also, relatively few players actually get to the point like me and some other posters here where all combat jobs are max level, all the previous content is well-worn, and the only stuff left to do are things that are not the primary reason that we play the game- whether that be crafting, achievement hunting, PvP, etc. It's hard to see over time but there really is a mountain of things to do already. Newcomers have a daunting task ahead of them if they want to get to it all - especially with how difficult it is to even get a party for the old stuff!

That said, I don't like how all the content is being stretched thin over the course of the patch. If there are no technical limitations that prevent it, please release it all at once. I did all the new stuff in a few hours and while I love Ridorana and the Namauzu quests they aren't enough to keep me feeling occupied and content. I'd really rather see everything drop at once- HoH looks awesome and I have this strange hope that somehow Eureka Pagos will be tolerable after all the feedback from Anemos. Like Ghastly said I'd rather take a break towards the end of the cycle rather than a month in.

Simple fact that we used to get a lot more content with every patch. We're getting less and less with every patch. You can see this with the patch trailers as their times have been significantly cut and are not as well edited as the ones from 2.x and so. I'm still mad that we only got one hairstyle this patch. There's no reason we couldn't have gotten 2 hairstyles plus the one for the Make It Rain event. SE is making more money than they have ever been making on FFXIV due to the subscriptions and the Mog House and every other thing they nickle and dime us for. It's funny to see people try to deny this fact or people celebrate the idea that we might not even get a new expansion next year, but continued 4.X patches because it somehow makes SB worth the money.

Idk. I like the new beast tribe quests.
I like the new ex primal
    I really enjoyed the MSQ.
I enjoy the new 24 man despite the loot changes.

Then the make it rain campaign this Tuesday with the new changes to chocobo races.

I'm enjoying the patch and it will be interesting with the spread of content in this new style of patches

I would add that dungeon gear this time is useful since beign 345 soime of those pieces are BIS for UCOB, for those that care ofc, but it's something that is a bit new in the game overall

This wouldn't be an issue if they released Heaven on High with 4.3 in lieu of delaying it a month because "people would have too much to do!!!!"

Can we let people decide that instead of telling them? Otherwise it looks more like a thinly veiled attempt to keep people subbed.
