    WHM damage in savage content

So I have started my foray into savage content with sigmascape v1 savage. A person logged the last successful run I was in and I had very low damage. I did about 3% total damage and the scholar with me did about 6%.
I did notice that I was great about keeping aero I going but forgot about aero III a lot so I know that is one immediate thing I can do that can help.
It just seems like keeping dots up and hitting it with stone is all I can do. Any suggestions on how to do more damage without risking deaths? Do other white mages do cleric stance on these? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There’s quite a few factors at play when it comes to optimising your DPS as a healer. Here are a few:

    Your activity rate or cpm
    Your co healer’s contribution
    Your tank’s cooldown usage
    Your strat
Your efficency with your own personal movement
As well as raidwide buffs of course.

I’ll go into a bit more detail later <3

I mean, Sebazy already covered most of everything to do with healer damage lol, but something else really important is familiarity with the fight.
I would say it's not to uncommon to do really low damage as a healer the first time you clear a fight, since you're not used to spike damage and how much he you can let your parties HP sit and tick up with regens.

Of course that's only one small part of healer DPS, a lot of it will come down to your own efficiency in healing. Not healing too much, not overhealing when regens could tick people up just as fine. And making sure to DPS during all these times where your party isn't in danger.

I did see that I over-healed quite a bit, so getting a feel for how much would be just enough will help. The scholar healed about as much as me, but did significantly less over-healing which gave her more time to do more damage. And good point about knowing the fight in and out. I'm to the point where I don't die or get taken by a ghost at all, but I think if I get tethered or have other targeted mechanics to worry about I forget to dps or cast in general. I was thinking perhaps sticking with as many instant things as possible and keeping regen and divine benison up on the tanks to avoid some heals with cast times might help too.

Okie, back home and with a mug of coffee in my hand <3

Overhealing is a significant piece of the puzzle, but not the most important one IMHO as it's not entirely under your control, nor is it particularly detrimental outside of speed runs within reason. Anywhere from 30% to 50% is perfectly reasonable as a WHM for the most part.

IMHO the most important metric to watch and track is your CPM or Active Rate. This is the secret sauce that separates players and you'll find that your overall throughput will increase significantly as you improve this score. Needless to say, it's by far the most important thing to push and practice if you want to up your game.

Here's a few tips to help you work on this aspect of your play:

If you're forced to move, try to get into the habit of using that as an opportunity to refresh Regen or Aero II even if it's a little early. You can gain a lot of GCDs this way, especially on fights that make you run long enough to miss a full cast or more. I noticed that your Regen uptime is rather weak as well, so this would be a great way to work on improving that side of things as well.

If you're not moving, try to get into the habit of autopiloting your Stone IV key. This coupled with a good Active Rate is what separates the best DPSing healers from the rest, if you're in-doubt as to what to do, get something casting anyway and in most situations it might as well be a Stone IV. Worst case, you can always interrupt the cast and go with something more useful.

Record yourself! Shadowplay or OBS makes this super easy on a PC and it's easy enough to upload unlisted to youtube on a PS4. This is the best single tool for working on your fundamentals for any given raid encounter, logs will become more valuable once you start fine tuning things, but until that point a simple video recording is worth it's weight in gold when it comes to highlighting movement efficiency and CPM deficits.

    Sebazy is spot on.
I had a look through your logs and will confirm that your CPM should be the first stop. I would aim at getting around 18 as a first step for o5s. In doing that you will most likely improve on the other aspects mentioned above.

I also would not worry about overhealing too much in the beginning. It should be one of the later things to fix. It is worth communicating with your co healer however to ensure you aren't throwing your big heals both at the same time as that is generally one of the easier fixes.

Thank you, you all are awesome! I really appreciate the time taken to check out the logs and for your thoughtful responses. I want to improve, but I didn't know where the main problem was or how to go about it really so it's great to have it identified and a starting point for working on it.

    Your parse from 2 june.
    Active time : 60,24%, CPM : 12,7

60%, it's quite choking. It mean, during nearly half of the fight you are not acting (except moving) at all.

You should train (with the tips of Sebazy) in dungeons and (easy) trials before to try to do high dps on savage.
