I think that Yoshi-P already said why they abandoned this idea. I think that he said that's harder to balance.

About archer, it can branch either to dancer, that can be healer.

Every melee has an Attack speed buff except Dragoon. Shifu, Greased Lightning, Hutton. It would be nice for Dragoon to get a buff to attack speed, maybe 5% so we maintain our "heavy hitter" aesthetic. Maybe roll it into Life of the Dragon or something.

PLD choosing way of the Sword/Shield. That would customize existing abilities with new effects and give access to a few new abilities. The only problem would be how to balance them so one is not heavily favored over the other. I'd dig that!
If they're not gonna split classes I highly doubt they're gonna split Jobs. What would even be the difference? Semantics?
As for the cursive part: If they're going to make completely new animations and abilities the might as well make it a completely new Job, with it's own aesthetic and lore. That'd be much more interesting to me then them just spinning something thats effectively a new Job anyway off of an already existing one. Not to mention that I feel like it would just make the Jobsystem needlessly complicated given that we already have ton of Jobs to keep track of; no need to throw random branches into the mix.
But I already gave my thoughts on this in more detail in your thread, so I'm not gonna here.
(Please note that I'm not trying to be mean here, I find Ideas and Feedback always interesting to read. I just don't see much benefit from this particular one)

    ----

Some more Ideas on the thread in general:

RDM: I feel RDM is already good as is, but there are some areas I'd like them to improve on
    - I'd like to see more 'oomph' in the AoE department, as it feels relatively stale atm; perhaps something like a combo-chain? Make Moulinet potentially procc either Verwater/Verblizzard, with either spell automatically proccing the other one. They would also give you a small amount of Mana each. So you'd go: Scatter > Moulinet > (possible) procc > guaranteed procc > Moulinet > procc > procc etc until out of Mana, with the Mana generated by the Ver-AoEs possibly giving you an extra Moulinet.
    - An AoE-finisher. Ardor would fit extremly well with RDMs overall theme and naming. Not sure how it'd work though; perhaps a procc after a certain number of Moulinets?
    - Manafication repurposed as a 'Need burst now' button, turning your next 3 Melee-Moves into their enchanted variants without subracting any Mana.
    - Maybe some sort of mechanic making use of the Balance Gauge. Maybe a utility skill that give a short Melee/Magic buff depending on how your balance is? Bravery/Faith or something? (I have only a rough Idea here, not sure how it'd work mechanically yet)
    - While we're on the Balance Gauge, please for the love of whatever god you pray too, no utility abilities that subtract Mana. RDM is already low enough in DPS without paying for its utilites. If anything, encourage the use of utility by letting them help the RDM generate Mana.
    - Some sort of light defensive CD, perhaps a shield that generates a small amount of Mana when broken? A bit like FFVI's Runic. (Hey, if we're gonna turn RDM into a utility DPS...)
    - Get rid of Verraise or at least weaken it. Or realize that its not that great in the first place and allow RDM a bit more DPS.
    - Should RDM ever get DPS-Buffs, buff their Mana generation so they can hop into Melee more often. Still raises their DPS and is much more interesting than plain potency buffs.
    - Get Impact in on this: Impact now gives a buff that ups Mana generation. Nothing gamechanging, but something to upkeep for a nice reward.

(I know, not exactly orderly; just a train of thought I had)

MNK: An actual use for Tornado kick, it kills me how stellar the animation is but I refuse to use it since it kills our main mechanic of Greased Lightning. I still would love for our combo positionals to be back, back, back then flow into flank, flank, flank, then back to back, back, and back, would definitely be less crack head movements.

PLD: Would love an actual attack to use up Sword oath gauge instead of just Sheltron, perhaps a holy slash or some such

MCH: Really enjoy the mechanics of the class but loathe Wildfire with a passion.

DRK: Still dislike the Dark Arts spam after every damn move but class is slowly moving towards being in a good spot like PLD and WAR.

SMN: The sheer lack of EGI customization is disturbing for the game being out as long as it has. We have Shiva, Odin, Ramuh, Bismark, Ravana, etc...we cannot just steal a bit of power from them to have them as EGIs? Unless SE is going for the whole color spectrum of Carbuncle....

Also the people debating for over half the thread really should have stopped hijacking since it is rude
NIN: A little less punishment for derping a mudra chain, that damn black mage bunny makes me sad. Considering the job is very button acrobatic

Cross posting my Lily rework idea from the healer forum for just more random insight / input. I don't think people want that massive wall of text here~ =p

I'd like the change to Lilies to come prior to 5.0 given the current state of the healer balance. Preferably in the 4.4 release. I imagine a Lily rework would be highly appreciated by 99% of the White Mages in the game.

That faerie is the Seraph summon from past games. The pseudo-lore is it's Lily using both sides of herself at once, but thematically, it's the Seraph summon.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

NIN: Rework of Duality and Dream within a Dream, they're just utterly boring skills. What I'd like,
Duality: Your next Mudra is cast twice, (For Futon, you get a bonus 15%AS for 30sec that can't be refreshed)
Dream Within a Dream: Summon a ShadowClone that stick to your target, doing every single combat skill you do for 15sec. The Shadowclone disapear if you attack its target in melee. (If you're at range, it can essentially allow you to continue your melee combo for 15sec, but at range)
Hyoton revamp too, could be a defensive mudra! (a dead NIN does 0 dps anyway)

BLM: Fusion of some skill like LeyLine and Between the line, Update of Freeze to be part of the AoE rotation (AoE BLizzIII basically), revamp of enochian, the skill is useless atm.

SMN: EGI rework, I really like the demibahamut mechanic, this is what a SMN should be imo, a powerful being comes down to help you for a short period of time. I'd like EGI to be some sort of short CD that you press, summon the egi to do a few things then sent back. Perhaps a rework of the Eatherflux mechanic as it doesn't really fit the summoner anymore. There's barely no choice involve, you burn through them ASAP to enter the trance.

RDM: First and foremost, adding a trait that decrease the recard time on the next skill after consumming Dual cast so that we don't stand still like idiot for 2.4sec every 2 casts. I would like to see the RDM as the very fast paced caster where the rotation is simple but you must cast so quick that the difficutly actually comes from managing to not screw up those chain. I would also like an incitive to alternate between Verholy and VerFlare. (Perhaps, each of them grant a stack and when you have both stack your next melee combo unlock a "crystal" big spell. Oh and especially, put Verraise on a 1min cd and increase that dps... (and give it more support)

For RDM I would like to see more skills that use the sword as an actual sword. Whether they are combos that apply dots or debuffs doesn't matter so much as I want to see more melee in this "hybrid".

I do have to disagree with lowering the gcd after a dualcast goes off, since that is the valuable time RDM has for oGCD usage, and RDM has a good repertoire of oGCDs to use on a regular basis. The main problem behind a "fast caster" subtype, which I'm not opposed to, is you'll create another job in this game which lives and dies on the user's lag; a fate that MCH and to a lesser extent NIN suffer from.

MCH - Overhaul it like you did BRD to make it more fun. 20k wildfires are lame when I was doing that back in HW. (I know you get it twice as often niw but still...)
