It's gonna get outdated eventually too, like the majority of gear in this game, so it's nothing to worry over haha.

Higher ilvl doesn't automatically mean better gear unless the ilvl jump is huge. You only want to entirely concentrate on just higher ilvl if you want to max out your hp as much as possible. Very few raiding environments require the maximum possible hp, and most of us are not all-star players who can make even the worst gear produce great numbers. Most of us need to balance our secondaries with care. Nevermind how some classes suffer more than others if they don't have enough of certain stats.

Also whether gear of a specific ilvl is in or out of date is meaningless to someone wants gear for glam. Wanting glam gear isn't something that goes out of date.

And yes I have used a combination of crafted gear, sigmascape normal, and mendacity gear to gear my alt jobs.

Good for you! It's always nice to have options. But as explained prior, not everyone has access to them so telling them to gear up via these other means doesn't address the problem.

+1 on that, but also consider that just because higher tier gear exists doesn't mean you can access it. Many people are hurt by this change because they can't use Rabanastre to gear up to gain access to later content. Creation is noticeably easier to farm than Mendacity but it still takes time. This debate would've been completely different if they had used it only for the Lighthouse, but alas, they didn't.

SE this is why you do not make blind changes, when it comes to topics such as this either side can justify their position and either one will be hard pressed to say one is wrong and the other is right. SE next time please think before you make a change, this rage feast would not be a thing if the change never saw the light of the day.

I worry about the the people coming after, trying to gear their main classes with pieces from there when the limit won't be around (to get the ilvl for 4.4 content.
now it's gonna be hell for them with greed only, seeing a piece they could use, only to be greeded on for seals or whatever purposes.)

and maybe it's to make it fair and allow everyone to play their main class while gearing alt, but I can't help and think, it's just to forces more runs to make old raid more relevant
(thankfully I often get my loots in one run and the gears are ugly...)

That's already the case for people trying to use Rabanastre as catch-up.

I rolled for tank gear once - I think I was on as my DPS. But I asked the tank in our group if he needed it first. He said he was good; otherwise, I would have passed.

Why can't people be decent in this game? Presumably, EVERYONE has had to deal with nonsense like this, where you go there for gear and someone wins it for an off-spec. Hell, for all we know SE rigs the RNG specifically for this use case. It's too easy for people to lose perspective that there are other people on the other side of those characters on the screen.

There's still the problem of the people that are decked out in 370+ gear rolling "need" just because they wanted the wardrobe graphic or just because the button is available. Game functionality is no substitute for being decent towards others.

What's wrong with rolling Need on stuff if you do need it though?
I mean yeah it sucks that they're just rolling for something that they're going to use for glamour but at the same time think about this, how many times do you think a player could have run the dungeon for a specific piece of loot? Last week I had to run Ridorana an ungodly amount of times to get the tank chest piece, it dropped twice and I couldn't get it both times because I was outrolled and while to be fair those people probably did need it to gear their alt tank classes, how is that fair to me, a tank main who's been running the raid multiple times a day on the role whose gear I'm rolling for and then having it be snatched away by someone who probably plays tank once a month and would most likely be perfectly content with any other piece of loot?

My definition of "Need" is obviously different than most people in this community. I only regularly play three classes (dark knight, red mage, and astrologian). I don't "need" to look pretty. Looking pretty doesn't help the group dynamic. I "need" to be able to heal better, tank better, or do more damage against mobs. My rolls reflect those goals. Yeah, I agree that it's messed up for people that "probably plays tank once a month", but I'd almost positive that I see the glamour crew far more than the super-casually-played-this-role people - hence why I didn't mention it earlier.
