QoL Change: Ex Trial Mounts

I would really really like to know why we cannot buy the Extreme Primal mounts with 99 tokens when they are new, a.k.a. in the patch they release with. I personally have run Jade Stoa Ex over 170 times, and I have never seen the mount drop. (I am mainly still running it because I want the mane for the barding, but maybe also because I am stubborn.) A friend of mine did over 400 runs of Sophia back in the day, before he finally gave up and waited for the patch he could finally buy it.
I have seen others straight up quit the game, because the few lucky ones who get a drop early or worse; Lootmaster the mount then run- will show off their mount at every chance, AFKing in hubs like Rhalgr's.

I could imagine the intention behind not giving us the option to buy it with tokens comes from a good heart. I don't want to imagine it is just to keep people holding out. Maybe it is meant to help people have experienced players help them clear, and get a few runs in, while it is still relevant. Maybe. But I would like to say that those people that will help others clear already do so, and the rest would not be caught dead in a training party or a clear anyway, keeping to themselves in farm parties where a lot of the time they lock out 'low' ilvl players anyway. I would like to implore the devs to change this, give people something to hold out for, and feel accomplished with, and it would help keep players engaged and happy with the game. I am seeing more and more of my friends getting frustrated with the lack of mount drops, and I don't want to lose more friends because they are feeling played for a fool.

PS: I could also see this help against RMT, in which people will take exorbitant amounts of money from gullible or plain lazy players so someone else will farm for their mounts. With them readily available for tokens, it wouldn't feel so hopeless for people to get them, and they would be less likely to resort to RMT.

Editing the post will let you bypass the character limit. And yeah I also wish we could've bought the mount with totems within the same patch as well.

It's so you'll keep doing it. Simple as that. If you could buy straight away, the hardcores would spam the 99 runs in a few days then never touch it again. Whereas as it stands people continue to keep trying even after saving up 99, purely out of impatience.

Because RNG. The "extreme" content is not for entitlement, it's for "yes I earned that". Once the content is retired from being "hard" then people will just spam them unsynced and it becomes a pushover. Then players move on to the next thing. Some players will opt not to even play the content until it's a pushover entirely because the kind of people who try to farm it while it's "hard" are killjoys.

If people are quitting the game over RNG, they need to chill. I hate RNGesus mechanics as much as the next person, but if it's making some people quit, they are taking the game too seriously. Identify the parts of the game that waste your time, and simply don't play those parts until you can trade off time for speed.

Answered your own question. You did Byakko an extra 71 times and apparently your friend did Sophia an extra 301 times. The thing is, they want this content to last a bit so they delay the turn in. Do I think you should have to do 99 runs for a mount? Nah.
But SE's goal is to keep people playing it and delaying the totem turn in serves that purpose just like the mount being there in the first place. Sure, you could just do 99 anyway and stop, but I'm sure there are people out there that don't want to wait and will keep chugging along.

As people have said to keep people doing the content. When they said they were delaying Eureka and new potd because they want people to enjoy main scenario instantly had a bad taste in my mouth (Lets be honest SE its just not ready yet). Second expansion in at this point people joining lootmaster parties and getting shocked by loot and scoot you have only yourself to blame for being that gullible. You think people saying they clear the content 99 times and only had two shots of rolling against 7 others make that kind of stuff up?

Also hardcore people already grind these into oblivion in the first weeks to get it done. If you are going to quit a game due to how rng works then maybe you should think about why you were playing it to begin with.

What if they removed the RNG droprate and made it so you could only get it with tokens, but instead of requiring 99 totems, you need 139'860 (140 inventory slots each filled with 999 totems)? Would that be considered hardcore enough for the hardcore? I know someone's going to give me abuse for this because of how out there it is, but I'm going to post it nonetheless. I'm used to the abuse, so what's more gonna do?

I don't mind waiting 1-2 patches for the Extreme mount totem purchase. Keeps the more relatively recent high-end duties being run like all others have been saying.

However, waiting 3 patches for the totem turn in is too long (Sephirot Extreme, I am looking at you.)
