E-Mail NOtice for Events? Yes, Please!

hello. it would be GREAT just GREAT if Square Enix would push an e-mail when they have events around. like for this Make It Rain Campaign. sadly, it has come to my attention that the previous two events of this were missed. i didn't even know they were done until today! so sad i am

personally... i can't afford to keep a re-occurring subscription going. and it becomes a hassle to check a website everyday. e-mail notifications would be GREAT

    Thank You!

Actually they already do that - I get emails from SE all the time advertising the latest content patches and yes, seasonal events too. You have to sign up with SE's Members' section on the main SE website for your region to do so though, it's not specifically part of having a FFXIV subscription. It's not only FFXIV stuff they send however, I get a lot of promotional material about other SE games (like FFXI), but it's surprising just how much FFXIV promotions are sent to me.

The important thing is though, SE does already send email promotions about FFXIV events and content patches, it's just not done automatically as part of your subscription.

    where exactly is the option?

i already receive email notices about major content updates... sometimes.

and already receive email notices about Mog Station sales... after they have already ended.

but i DON'T receive email notices for limited time events. where do i enable the option for this? i can't find an option anywhere for any kind of email setting. anyone?

I don't think there is such a feature.

But you can see the events even without going on the lodestone by paying attention to your launcher.
Or if you use twitter https://twitter.com/FF_XIV_EN

Events are also typically announced with a system message in your ingame chat log when you log in.

thank you for the twitter link, but that is worse off then just checking the lodestone. so much clutter between all the tweets and re-tweets. i don't even understand hlaf the stuff on there. LOL! and launching up the app every day is way too much a hassle on console. the idea is to get e-mail notices so people will know when to re-sub for things.

i can't be the only that can't have an always active subscription going. nor can i be the only that would like to receive notices about upcoming, or even current, events.

it is a hassle to check a website everyday for something. and then if you don't check everyday it can get easy to forget. and then getting email notices from twitter will just flood the box. if tweets could be flagged/tagged and email notices filtered based on those flags/tags... well, that would be nice.

maybe this upcoming companion app will offer something useful in this capacity. it is a real shame they don't send out notices.

Then it is quite possible some mails sent to you get lost somewhere on the way. Perhaps they get mis-identified as spam and dropped?
E-mail delivery isn't, and has never been, 100% reliable.

i don't know... aside from the deliveries from SE, i haven't had issues with email since like the 90's. and my email is clutter free. always has been. i never receive any kind of spam. it helps to never post your email anywhere and not use websites that use your email as a display name. (that is... on my main email that is used for registration forms i know to be safe)

i have the spam box on, so if it was spam it would go there.

all-in-all, this makes me very sad. including the make it rain events, i have missed about 4 or 5 limited time events. and those plus the MSQ is seriously the only reason i play this game. it is very saddening to only just now learn about missed events. i can move past it, but knowing they aren't going to send notices about events... it is very disheartening. :/
