    Error upon exiting client

    Hi,

I've just recenlty installed the game and are receiving the below error upon exiting the game. I can log onto the game, but haven't really done any content. But when I exit by going to the home screen and exiting, I get the below.

    KERNELBASE.dll+3F218
    dxgi.dll+37705
    dxgi.dll+31B8
    dxgi.dll+ 2F84
    dxgi.dll+3301
    dxgi.dll+ 2FC7
    d3d11.dll + 3924D
    d3d11.dll+27843

What's wrong? I have read it could be because of an xbox app in windows 10 but I have already removed that but the error still exists.

    Thanks

Hello Aaaaa123, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

When exactly did this start happening? Are your graphic card drivers up to date? Are you using Direct X 11?

    Hope to be of assistance.

Aaaaa, despite the error on exit (which is harmless, but just annoying) are you able to log back in and play whenever you like or is the error preventing you from getting back in the game again?

    If:

    a. You're just reporting the error because it's annoying and it's an error, many before you have as well, for what it's worth. My game crashes and shows the error every time I exit the game also
    b. It's preventing you from playing again, that's a different issue worthy of troubleshooting

To Ariellendera and other mods who report bugs back to SE, here are a few noteworthy points about this:

    1. The issue was happening pre-update. I have two different types of Windows computers both have the issue as does my friends PC. It seems to be universal. Maybe Nvidia is the connection?
    2. If I login to the game, move around for 10-15 seconds and exit the game, the client does not crash
    3. If I login to the game, play for 20-30+ minutes and exit the game, the client crashes
3a. when the client crashes, I see it frozen in a place in the game I was earlier. This sounds confusing but let's say 30 minutes playing I was in Uldah. I traveled to another place, dungeon etc. et. and I exit the game, it crashes and what's frozen on the screen is Uldah.

Maybe it's a memory thing who knows but it's random each time. Hope this helps at all XD

na, just has the error when I exit and I can log back in. But you know, these things can lead on to bigger errors. better fix them when they are small!

Thank you for the update Aaaaa123.

Luckily, the issue you have doesn't seem to be affecting you while you play it, but may in the future. However, in trying to fix this issue, you might end up creating more problems. So just a fair bit of warning before we try troubleshooting it.

Here are some troubleshooting options you can try:

-Run the game in DirectX 9 mode.
-Disable all programs/overlays running in the background
-Set compatibility mode to Windows 7. Right click the exe file and select ‘Properties.’ From here, select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select Windows 7.
-Perform a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
-Make sure that any anti-virus software you have has the appropriate exceptions for FFXIV
-Install the game on C drive (The same drive as the Operating System)

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
