Semi spoiler alert since I will be linking a youtube video that has to do with the new Lighthouse raid questline.
With Stormblood slowly coming upon us and if I recall, the stormblood story slowly coming to it's end as well (at least for another few patches), I been eagerly looking down the line when SE announces their next expansion for FFXIV. After playing from ARR to now and thinking that the game has only improved (either in large or minor) ways with every expansion, I hope this trend continues but there are things that I wish to see or hear in the next expansion.
Battle system (faster paced):
It has remained the same for the most part since ARR other than the increase in skills but that isn't what I mean. Compared to some other MMO's out on the market, FFXIV feels slower paced which works well for this game but for people who have stuck around long enough, can begin to feel dull and boring. Even when playing numerous classes I find myself start to either become bored or fall asleep during dungeons, raids, primals, etc. If I remember correctly the GCD is about 2-2.5 seconds. Lowering this to about 1.5-2 seconds would help greatly in getting more skills off cool down and meaning more actions per minute.
Allowing us to create our own combo's (such as what they give us in PvP) would be appreciated or working on the macro system so those who want to make our own macros to copy what is given in PvP do not have to worry about the extra .5-1 second wait per action in the macro for it to off.
Meaningful dialogue: (This is the video about the Light house raid) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DzUK3q2yAM
What Zelpa brings to light is that for the most part, whatever you choose doesn't really matter. Either the outcome is the same regardless of what you choose or (such as she shown), you straight up cannot complete a quest if you do not choose the right option. I understand that SE will need to have this x outcome because it advances the plot or the story but it really loses the feeling that we are playing 'our' own character if the dialogue options we are given either don't match our personality in some way or we aren't given an option to intervene when something is happening. Much of it is just us smiling and nodding rather than just a few extra bits of dialogue or our character to react to a situation or say their piece.
Losing the class specific gear when using it for glamour:
As much as I love the glamour system and the dresser (made me into quite the collection whore), it is still frustrating that I can't mix and match what gear I want because it is blocked behind another class. There are combinations that I want to do that requires something from a crafting class while mixing it with something from the battle jobs but the restriction prevents that even when put in the glamour dresser. Removing this (since I believe Yoshi P himself or someone else joked that the true endgame is glamour which is quite true) would open up numerous ways to dress our characters and might even come up with things truly unique. The other big thing would just to not have an x amount of gear being allowed to go into the dresser and patch in later. Just make it so we can put in what we want, when we want (within reason such as the anima weapons at certain points).
By all means, I am sure that there are others who want to see something in the next expansion and perhaps things that people may have things that either I forgot or hope to see as well. Join in and let others know what you have in mind.
