There is a LOT more work that would have to go into voice acting our characters for cutscenes then just having people come in and say the words.

The words don't exist to be said. We'd have to write the dialogue, for every cutscene, for each language, with some tweaks depending on the words you choose to say in quests.

We'd have to edit the cutscenes to match the length of the new dialogue, since right now, the scenes with our character speaking are too short to accommodate actual dialogue.

This is a lot of work. It is not nearly as simple as some of you are making it out to be. I wouldn't say no to it, but there's a lot of reasons why it probably will never be implemented.

Voice actors do not sit around at SE on the clock. They come in for a specified contract with a company, record, then move on to another company or project.

Oh I'm sorry, I did not realise you need to be an actress before you can use your voice...

How on earth does that even relate to what I'm saying?

Voice acting is a skill, and voice actors and actresses are...well...actors and actresses, that use their voices specifically. Sure SE can grab any random person that walks past and give them 5 bucks to say a bunch of random dialogue lines that got cobbled together, but it's not going to sound natural, it's not going to sound good. Not everyone can voice act. I know I can't.

Can you sound frightened without actually being scared? Can you cry convincingly without actually being sad? Can you do a battle yell? Can you adopt an accent if it was decided the character needed one and have it sound natural? And moreover, can you do all this while sitting inside a plain room with a microphone? Most people can't.

Bring Norio Wakamoto or Guilherme Briggs to dub every player and problem fixed. (No, seriously, this post remind me a FFXI commercial where all characters was dubbed by Norio Wakamoto)

But talking serious, what Elamys said is correct, it's not JUST using voice and done. Need a lot of skill, lessons to dub something properly. For example, the reason I know these 2 names above is because they are very skilled voice actors.

Using someone skills cost money, FFXIV Dev team should think carefully in what and how much they spend in the content. I really like the ideia of our characters having voice, but the reality of how much it cost could be a problem for the game in general and if they dont do it, they have a good reason for it. By myself I defend all the cutscenes, all the quests should be dubbed because I really like the voice acting of this game (I hear it in japanese), this is why I even make a suggestion about it a time ago. But if it is something that could hinder other content like main story devlopment, Hildibrand, Support Team, new content release and etc. Ok, I understand that's not possible and perhaps could be more possible in the future with more cutscenes being dubbed.

lol copying someone's voice completely only takes me 5 minutes to practice. I don't think I'm exceptional. I think most people here can achieve such a feat in a small amount of time if they feel like it.
Don't make it sound like voice acting is something you have to go to school for cuss thats like saying all humans are unevolved.

    Voice idea, Great idea!
If you disagree, you clearly stated that allready.
Leave it at that please. No matter if you agree with me or not, this topic isn't mine and you won't be able to sway me from agreeing.

lmao wow okay. Have fun in your little dense hole.

Since you're obviously such an incredibly talented voice actor as to be able to voice act on a professional level within 5 minutes of practice, why not submit your resume or audition for a movie? That'll go over well.
