Winged race?

I'm still trying to rid my brain of the images of that proposed bunny race... I think it'll take some time...

So, in the meantime, I decided to pose a winged race instead. Simple non-functional wings on a large well-well built humanoid. I think it's been proven that wings cannot grant a full sized human the ability to fly. We're just not built for it. But, it is conceivable for a race to have the traits of a winged creature without having the power of flight.

Similar to the dragon race that we have now, the new race can have feathers in certain places instead of scales. (Please no tail feathers!)

Anyway, this is simply something I'm using to blot out the images of the bunny men.

The only winged race I could be interested in are Ivalice Moogles and they've since been deconfirmed.

Wouldn't be interested. I think giant wings in MMOs are tacky already and combining that with yet another "human with animal parts" race would be a complete eyesore. No thank you.

Yeah, I'll pass. We already have lots of 'large well-built humanoids', we don't really need another one. While I don't see much of a chance of them adding actual beastmen or even anything too beastlike as a playable race, they should at the very least provide different bodytypes instead.

They already had a race just like what you're suggesting in a different FF game. Though they had shorter lifespans

Yeah, the whole bunny race thread is borderline nightmarish. But people REALLY like furries, so, more power to 'em. I can't even bring myself to roll a miqo'te so doubt I'd ever make one of those.

As for this winged race, that just screams Aion to me for some reason. Not that that's a bad thing. I played Aion for a bit back in the day. But that would weirdly seem out of place in this game. I mean, the Warrior of Light as a man or woman with wings? May as well call him/her a deva. :-D

No thanks. Having wings would either make mounts in moot for a certain race in all but ARR, or the wings would be purely decorative (which would be... yenno...). I could stand by a race that had feathers over parts of their bodies, like Au Ra's scales, but not wings. Only thing I think I'd be interested in being winged (as in... playable) are moogles, but they're a beast tribe and lore wise---that'll (likely) never happen.

A furry race = beastmen. Viera and Miqo'te aren't really that (remove the cat/rabbit ears and tail and you've got yourself a human).
