If we get a new Scion/Archon...What should he/she be like?

I miss Moenbryda.
As they are right now the scions that are left feel like they have no chemistry. Everyone kinda does their own thing. I didn't think I'd ever say that but I miss their ARR personalities. If we don't count Minfilia calling you to the dang waking sands every 2 quests, the group was like your RPG party and it just felt nice having an HQ and seeing them hang out there and share a silly line or two.

The chemistry part is usually during the x.0 era. Like in 3.0 where we explored Dravania with Ysayle, Estinien and Alphinaud. And again in 4.0 with Alisaie and Lyse when we were on the hunt for Yugiri and Gosetsu in Othard. After that though they just stop acting as your partners for the rest of the expansion.

This thread got me thinking too, Ysayle had her own Crystal of Light. Specifically one aspected to Ice.

What if there were other people with the Blessing of Light out there that had their own singular Crystals as well? Surely Ysayle couldn't have been a sole exception. I mean, there's a high chance that the samurai that helped out the Four Lords probably had the Blessing too, though he's dead (as far as we know). I imagine there's one roaming around somewhere inside Imperial territory, or in another nation.

I believe Aranvald has the blessing, or it becoming implied. These past 2 patches were in Doma so he wasn't involved, but he was pushed forward a lot in the 4.1 story.

As for a new Scion, or a new main character in general, we need a male miqo'te, that is the only gender/race that hasn't been a main character yet. All of the others have been.

Really I'm at the stage I'd rather just see the whole organization abolished completely and instead have it revert back to their original form as the Path of the Twelve (with the Archons as advisers).

Frankly the whole 'united Path of the Twelve/Circle of Knowing' experiment and a shift in focus away from the Echo to studying/defeating the Primals has not worked in-universe, unlike the previous groups which were very secretive and exclusive by design, the Scions being more open has only resulted in constant betrayals and attacks on their members (on more than one occasion they've been brought almost to the brink of complete destruction), and the body count of the members lost in the constant conflicts has been ridiculously high.

Unlike the Path where the veil of secrecy ensured at least that most members were, generally, more protected. As it is the Scions even barely exist as an organization now, merely a loosely connected network of scholars and adventurers - they don't even have a dedicated leader anymore since Minfilia's... apotheosis!

So perhaps it's now time to bring the axe down on it for good and restore the Path.

If you read the four lords story you would know Tenzen had the blessing of light. The reason Byakko/Genbu are like the way they are is because they were exposed to crystals of light which made them super Auspices compared to the others.

To be honest wouldn't surprise me there aren't many people with Crystals of Light. These crystals are attuned very heavily to the astral spectrum when it comes to elements in FFXIV so they wouldn't be easy to come by. They have also reduced in size, Matoya uses one as a "crystal ball" and it's one of the oldest that we know of when it comes to Crystals of Light. Comparing that one to ours you can clearly see the difference of what Hydaelyn can do now so I think she is being a lot more cautious when it comes to making them.

Also the reason why the Scions are all spread out now is basically because everyone agreed they don't really need a leader in order to work towards a common goal so they all just do their own thing now and when the time comes when they need to gather they will gather so I don't think a new scion needs to join. We have enough as it is.

M'naago and Cirina are both archers, although we haven't really seen them fight directly.

Either way, I find it hard to justify a new Scion when the organization itself at this point is basically another branch of the Eorzean military that behaves more like a special task force. I imagine that if we catch up with Alphinaud later on, we're going to be introduced to another organization entirely, one closer to the politics of the rest of the known world. Indeed, Arvenald is already being set up as someone that will hold the fort down when the WoL is no longer able to keep a watchful eye on Eorzean affairs.

I honestly do not want any other Scion.


We had amazing characters (Moenbryda, Iceheart and others) that were killed or sent away for basically no reason while we drag on characters like freaking Urianger and Thancred who completely lost their original appeal, at least to me. On the other hand, my now precious boi Alphi has grown a lot and I myself grew to appreciate his character along with Alisaie, which are good examples of chemistry and development of characters. Same goes for a lot of secondary characters who I thought were far better than the "main cast".


Now, do we really need to keep dragging on the 1.0 storyline like this? It seems to me like the Empire, the Ascians and the Scions situation will never stop and will hurt the overall story experience in the long run. I hope the next expansion will bring a resolution to this mess so we can move on to an experience that is more original and truly unique to the current XIV.

Roes in general dont get much story attention
Merlwyb hasn't done much since leviathon and Moenbryda died

most you see of them is Maelstrom related side quest or the warrior quest line
i guess there is Gosetsu

Arenvald seems to only have the echo. I am not sure where its implied to have more than that? (Just curious) The blessing is something that you get through crystals of lights and I am quite sure that a scion (for example Ysthola) would have commented that he has one.


As on topic: I dont care about race or gender. I just want a scion that has a great character. Kinda like Moenbryda but without the "having to die so that we can be hit with some dramatic scene-part.

In the end I also would be fine if we leave the scions behind with 5.0 and just travel alone for a while. Honestly my character just sticks with them thanks to the twins.

Aranvald only has the Echo. The only person who has the Blessing of Light is the Warrior of Light. In order to get the Blessing of Light you need to obtain Crystals of Light.
