Yep, Chaos lags are back...
Good times over.
Now we need to wait for another DC crash to fix this...
The latency in the game right now is awful, particularly in the evenings during peak time. Constant rubberbanding and pauses that last 3-5 seconds. DCs are not frequent for me but they do happen. I suspect this is the exact same issue we had at the end of last year. Running a traceroute tells the same story at least. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and my character is on Faerie on the Aether datacenter.
I'm getting latency again. SE, there no reason for this. We went through this last year and now its happening again?
Fix your shit
To Ariellendera:
I've been following these types of threads since I started seeing these issues back in November. Many people much more savvy than myself have done the proper digging to see what the real problem is. I really would like to understand why SE stance is that its a problem w/ our ISP when we have *proven* over and over again that it is NTT, which is the FFXIV service's ISP, not ours. Please end this headache, and please explain to me why SE has been given all this data, and info, and the stance continues to be "not us, it's obviously some cosmic coincidence that you 1,000+ people - all w/ different ISP's - have an issue w/ your ISP."
Why is this the stance? I would feel so much better if there was more clear, and transparent communication. Please Ariellendera, can you help us out here?
I to have posted previous about the 90002 errors, i get them more occasionally than anything mainly in palace of the dead or HoH which is why i dont bother trying to do solo runs due to this issue, its been going on a long time and i just grit my teeth against it
It's just so unfortunate. After logging in for 15 minutes, it's obvious to begin seeing rubberbanding, and the lag that can happen in a dungeon will either crash the game on me, or I lag out for 10 seconds, which basically means I've been no help - whatsoever - in tanking the group, sometimes leading to a wipe, but definitely causing frustration. It was the worst during Byakko where I would no longer see the game progress during his initial "bullet hell" moment, and then again, during the end phase I would still be connected, and chatting w/ the group, but be lagged out, until they beat Byakko or lost. It's to the point that I don't want to join end game runs with friends and other players because I know my connection will be the weak leak.
Then, on top of all of this, I come to the forums and find almost 100+ people talking about similar issues, causing the game to lose its enjoyment, proving that the service responsible is SE's ISP, only to see us turned away by the moderators w/ boiler plate statements of, "your eyes deceive you. The facts are false, it's actually your ISP." Most of these people will come back after calling their ISP being told by them it is actually SE problem. Is this issue even going anywhere inside the company? We need more information as to *why* the response is that it's not SE's problem.
I almost feel like it's come down to the dev's talking to NTT (FFXIV's ISP), and them saying that it would cost SE more money to gain a more reliable connection, and SE has decided that instead of paying that, they would ask their customers to complain down the food chain, hoping that enough complaints going to the lower ISP's will eventually bulldoze NTT to give the more reliable connection at no cost. On paper, okay, solid plan. The reality is that the lower ISP's aren't making any complaints. We, the paying customers, are being left to rot in this hell, wanting to enjoy this beautiful game, but being given the cold shoulder. I want to play this game for at least 5 more years. Please, SE. Is there more information you can give, besides a half-assed response, that could shed some light on what is really going on?
It just sucks. I come home from work, want to play FFXIV, but I can't, because I have 5 second constant rubber banding happening every two seconds. The game is unplayable when I get home from work. My only resolve is playing on the weekends, and that's not good enough. If this was a problem I had control over, that would be great. But I have zero control over this issue and any possible resolution. That's the frustrating part. Seriously Square, stop telling people to check their diagnostics and blah blah blah. The issue is on your end and it's something you need to address.
Sorry if I am coming off as rude, but I don't see any reason why I should pay for a game that is virtually unplayable and for reasons I have no influence over??
The NTT lag is definitely back. There was a period of a few weeks where it seemed absent but these last couple of weeks it has been a hindrance, especially this past day. I do enjoy my latency shooting through the roof into the 230ms+ range when it is perfectly fine within the realm of my ISP.
Square Enix doesn't care though. They haven't cared for the past year and they'll continue deflecting blame until this game ceases to exist.
