    Question about Garland Tools

Usually I use ffxivcrafting.com for materials lists when crafting, but since it's now rather out of date, I've been checking out Garland Tools this evening and I have a couple of questions:

In the crafting tab on the items, if there is a material that is purchasable at a vendor, the list will only show you that finished material and where to buy it, instead of breaking it down into materials so that you can gather them and craft it yourself. For example, the recipe for Serpentskin Armguards of Aiming needs two Titanium Nuggets, but doesn't break that down into the Iron Ore, Grenade Ash and Titanium Ore that you'd need to craft the nuggets.

Is there a way to change this on the site? (And yes, I generally craft everything that's craftable, rather than buying it from vendors. That's just how I roll.)

Next question: If you look at the end game progression tool for DoH (and maybe DoL too, though I was specifically looking at CRP), the gear is arranged in columns. However, instead of all of the scrip gear (for example) being in one column, it's mixed in with the other gear in other columns, and the level 60 ilvl 170 accessories show up to the right of the level 70 Handking accessories.

Is this because the gear is arranged in an order from "worst to best" rather than just by ilevel? I'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind the arrangement of the gear in the progression tool window.

    Thanks!

If you open the information for Titanium Nuggets and go to "Sources and Uses", you can click on the little tickbox next to your prefered method of aquisition.

The End Game Equipment window calculates ussefulness based on how much stat points you can have on the piece with a small drop if overmelds are required to achieve maximum usefulness.

Ah, so for every item that I'd like to craft rather than purchase from a vendor, I'll have to open it up and tick the box? Hmmm.

What you say about the End Game Equipment window makes sense, until I see that somehow, level 60 ilvl 170 accessories are "better" than the level 70 Handking accessories. I guess this is because you can meld (and overmeld) the level 60 pieces.

    Thanks for the help!

In the recipes, you can change the "crafting mode display," which can be somewhat useful. I'd like an option to just see the final ingredients for the synth, instead of a full breakdown of the ingredients of the ingredients.

I discovered the modes! The Expanded mode is most useful for me I think, since I often have some of what I need but not all, and then I can note how many more items I need to gather or craft.

I just found out this is on option. In the settings, changing craft depth to 1 fixes the annoyance (for me, I'm sure other people that do single items or small batches like it)

    Good to know!

I've been using the site quite a lot while playing today, and I'm beginning to regret not digging into it before now. It's got more functionality for crafting lists than ffxivcrafting.com, and I can probably use Garland Tools for a lot of things that I was regularly going to Gamer Escape for as well (which is especially nice right now since I can rarely get that site to load lately). Win-win!

Have they updated the crafting materials?

Because the last time they updated their fish list was 4.0.
